We had a sweet ad spot on the Top 200 for the last couple months. We don't have that advertising anymore and nobody votes on that site so of course we are going to see a slight drop in the playerbase. The numbers I saw today were still five times the number 3 months ago. Everyone is always quick to proclaim fire and brimstone. We were around for months with 30 players, 150 is nothing to start fainting over.
As far as I can tell most players who are vocal about leaving are leaving because of bad interactions with other players. There is appropriate and intelligent ways to create tension that leads to pvp and then there is griefing. Frankly there is a lot of people being *******s to other players and then they are the same ones complaining about the playerbase. You reap what you sow in that regard.
Same goes for the way players treat staff. When a player is mature and respectful and thankful I am happy to help them and then I might feel like hosting an event because of that positive interaction. When players are constantly begging for events, treating staff like they owe them something, and proclaiming staff does nothing, it doesn't make staff want to interact with players. I'm not saying all players are like this because there are many I truly enjoy helping, but just wanted to put that out there.
