Where are you pinging from in Australia? I'm in Austin, TX and here's my stats:
Not ideal, but 177 is a workable ping. I'd like to blame kangaroos for the Australia connection issues as I usually do. I'm thinking that the problem lies in the infrastructure and routing table between you and the server. Since it's going a long way, other people between you and the server may have already established some strange routing and you're piggybacking off of that, if that makes sense. So the connection isn't taking the shortest route.
There's no quick fix for that though. Maybe connecting through a proxy might help if you can find one that's near Sweden. Hopefully a route won't already be established that will affect the path your connection takes, though it's no guarantee. Plus there's no guarantee that the proxy won't be overloaded by other users.
As for moving the server, we don't have any plans to do so at the moment because the setup we have now is ridiculously cheap. We just pay for power and internet and we have a more powerful computer and connection than we'd get if we paid 10x as much.
