Smackethdn Wrote:Figured I'd make a 2nd go at it in a more counter point basis (easier to read):
This is what this shard needs to have any sort of survival from its current stage... im telling you, not asking you. and I mean that with all due respect.
1. Introduce new armors, from a few shittier ones, to 1-2 new rare tourney armors.
2. New mounts, newer colors, EASIER to tame, and variety of colored rides. orns,llamas,zos,mustang,etc... Look, taming takes FOREVER to GM, and takes FOREVER to tame something... It seems like its worthless to gm taming, because theres limited colors and limited spawn times... why gm such a hard skill if you have someone who knows all the spawns and is timing it and taming them all... also go look at vendor mall, all rides are the same... theres the same rides, different vendors... too many of the same things!!! introduce some changes man!
3. 1-2 dungeons where its solo for players, where they can hunt alone, and have monsters which drop decent loot. this will create action in pvm, people can do this alone... and also add pvp in dungeons because pkers will be searching.
4. Staff... I see some new staff now, mostly Necro.... If we had 1-2 more staff, as active as necro, and hosting daily like him, we would be ok. need them to answer pages, (not many anymore thats for sure), host, and give players a sense of "backup" if it makes sense. because for some reason, players like playing when theres a staff online.
5.Events... Add new events, Horse Racing, Make some sort of chicken fighting, more monster bashes, etc... new events!!! and varieties!
1: If pretty colored armors are what keeps you playing this game then you are not a true UO gamer bottom line. The fewer the modifications of the original game the better. No Skill caps is one thing, putting in 50 different colored armors and such is for the ADD crowd. Grow up, this game isnt about hording things, if that's what you want play Diablo.
2:I've never played on a server that have as many different colors for animals and such. Again this goes back to #1, if you need pretty colors to make you feel special take your ass down to H&M or Filene's and buy yourself a dress you queen. Also making taming easier would only make these mounts worth even less than they are now. 5k gold for a mustang is ridiculous. I know comparing economies from one shard to another is apples and oranges but I mean I can mine and sell my daggers for 1 hour and make that gold. You need to reward the people that put the time into their characters, not the people with 2000 total skill level.
3:I haven't done much solo dungeon crawling yet on my character so I cant really comment on this much. But if it is as you say it is and no dungeon can be done alone than that is an issue. Not everyone plays this for the social aspect, and there are alot of different time zone'd players here. Also the lower population base at the moment makes grouping with others more difficult.
4:Like I said before, Staff isnt an issue. More staff equals less players. If we have lets say 10 staff members thats 10 less players this server would have instead and chances are they are the "hardcore" players that we want. Considering how we have about 30-40 players on average logged on I cant imagine needing more than half a dozen GM/Counselors/Seers invovled. More than that is dead weight.
5:I agree on this front as well to an extent. We have alot of events, they just so happen to always be the same thing. PvP based. Not everyone enjoys PvPing, and to be honest I'm willing to bet most people here dont enjoy PvP. It's important to emphasize, but if you have Duel Stones and Ladders and such, what is the point of hosting tournies all the time? Maybe I dont know how your Duel Stones work and if the dispense some sort of reward currency like I have seen on other shards but the point of these are to take Staff involvement in PvP away or atleast make it a smaller priority. Quests involving sailing, racing, anything different would make a world of difference in getting more people invovled and not the 6-8 people these 1v1 tournies are bringing in.
Anyway, another 2 cents from me. I obviously have a vested interested in this server staying strong as I've already devoted a good month or so of my time here and would like it not to be in vein. So to that I say support the staff, stay positive and stop *****ing. People want to play somewhere they know will still be there a few months down the road and I'll be completely honest when I say this, if I was thinking about playing here for the first time today I would defintely pass. The negativity of some of these loud mouthed minorities make the entire shard look amatuerish and unprofessional. It's hard enough trying to get people to play a 13 year old game, dont make it harder by pushing these few and far between potential players to other shards.
Lol,in response to your opinion on the first and second point i mentioned.
1.
For the armors, As you havent been here as long as others, you wouldnt know the depth of how ingots are flooded all over the world. you wouldnt know how many people have 40k+ of the same ingot in their bank, making certain armors useless and flooded. There needs to be an addition to the armors we have, and we need to substitute them by removing other armors that have lost value.
By doing this, you will have the crafters who feel like they have everything, return and want to mine these newer armors and create some sort of market and economy boost. You're too tied up over the fact that too much color is bad and isnt a good look. IF you think thats true, why dont you go buy yourself a black/white computer screen and stop complaining? I answered you this way because of your "smart" comments.
There's no harm in color, and diablo is a shit game, way too repetitive, thank you though.
2.
Having new ride colors will be benifitial because I know when I used to play years back one of the things i enjoyed most was matching my ride with the armor/tubs I had. I used to still play the same way, but I enjoyed to kill in "style" seems to me you only wear black and white IRL. matching is fun all on its own.
Thats like waking up one morning and altering between 3 colors and saying thats enough for me. you arent open minded enough, and again are stuck behind this "rainbow kiddy" style of shard this can turn into, when that isnt the case at all.
Having newer colored rides, armor matching, will have people interested in purchasing new rides and collecting them aswell, what ever floats your boat. in my case, I would buy them to match up and suit to gank. Why run around looking so plain when you can have different styles?
also, your point makes no sense. your saying my idea of having color is childish and isnt "uoish" and I should go play Diablo. Who is to say what "uo" is. UO is what you want it to be, its fully customizable and you can practically add or modify anything, and thats the beauty of it.
Also, another fact, are you trying to tell me swampdragons, bears, etc... are very realistic? I bet you would be against it, but I know many servers where players love these rides and enjoy using them, not that I want to implement it. So if a shard as successful as UO gamers, has these functions, has newer atire like chinese type clothing n stuff, than I believe you're very close minded.
Im not trying to start an arguement here, Im just stating a fact that having newer color rides, and making certain armors discontinued and introducing new ones isnt something to be worried about.
Why are there over 100 color tubs, and 10 color rides?? who the hell wants to ride around on a brown horse when their wearing limerock clothing?? Im not trying to make this a fashion show, but having some fashion involved wouldnt be such a bad idea. would cause sales of tubs, rides, and armors... that seems to me like a good way of helping out the economies current status, wouldnt you think?
yeyeye!
