Yeah I don't really think the hunting is messed up at all. It just takes some getting used to. Learning the tricks of the trade I guess you can say. The Hard monsters that your talking about are hard because they give good loot. Stuff that drops good stuff is supposed to be hard or the shard would be all messed up.
Im not going to list all the trix here but if you find me or almost any ministry member they would be glad to escort you on a hunt to help you out and show you some spots.
Everyone dies when they are exploring a unknown dungon for the first time. And wrong was not a good choice for a first time hunt alone.
