It has always been intended that you buy your own shield and I believe it should stay that way. So feel free to buy one for yourself. You can even sell the stolen shield back to whoever owns it for like 80% (if the player is willing) so you don't have to pay much out of your own pocket :p
but i don't understand why a guild shield is bound to ones character? it's useless to loot it then it's not an r/r reward or anything why is it bound to his character?
