Think about it if I joined a shard and knew I would be able to macro safely in a guarded city until i reached x amount of total skill I would macro all the necessities first. I know myself as a new player would recommend the shard then to other players cuz they have the time to macro some skills properly without always being killed (seriously ppl gotta stop doing that to noobs), it also creates an attraction to the shard imo
100% agree with this. However I have to point out it's ironic you want people to have a 100% safe macro area when you, scare, smoke, (and even me a few times) ganked, cut, and loot afk people in town. Maybe they weren't noobs but the effect is the same;
-New player sees someone afk get ganked and guards aren't even called and it makes them think 'wow that's stupid'
-New player gets ganked before they can say guards and makes them think 'wow this is stupid I can't even macro in a blue town'.

I wouldn't call it a baby feature Shade, I'd call it noob friendly once they pass x skills or x time ingame they have to face the harsh reality of INX.
Shade Wrote:As for renting a room, well it could be set to 250 gold for a week, which takes minutes to get even in the newbie dungeon with almost no skill.
If we're talking a weekly amount, 1-2k isn't very hard even for a new player who has skills to macro. If it means a safe macro spot I think people would be willing to pay for it as long as they got something like a water trough.
Shade Wrote:Another idea I had, though I'm not very fond of it personally, is adding a new command like .donate or something that would allow players to send an item to a chest that only new players could open. I think that would be helpful as well if players were actually willing to donate even the junkiest things.
I like this idea for a few reasons;
-Nobody is forced to donate and those who can donate give what they can. (one person's trash is another person's treasure).
-For people like Rabbi and Hiro who usually give items to new players might not be around when a new player gets on the first few times so now they can still get something
Personally I'd add a note when players take something it says 'courtesy of ___'. It's always nice to get a thank you.
The one flaw I see with this is that someone will make a new character and try to collect. So long as the *checker* to see if someone qualifies to take something checks how old the account is and not how old the character is.
