Actually, chess rules are that if you're not in check and the only move you can make puts you in check, that's called a stalemate and not checkmate since you aren't in check at that point. In tournaments it counts as 1 point to each player, so a draw. Same as in a football game if it's 2-2 after extra time that's a tie (draw).
