I can't really argue that, which is why such tricks like drag-recall were invented. Honestly though after playing for so long it seems so acceptable now.
I hate to see weights messed with for the 716th time but maybe we could discuss a way to allow characters to carry more. Though because I like being a pain, I say it would have to be earned :p
