Think about it rationally. You spend half an hour collecting the fertile dirt to take off 23 hours of growth. That is totally fair. Its clear that since you have 50 plants growing as it is that plants are too easily grown.
Its your choice to spend half an hour per plant to remove a growth period off them or not. Personally if I was that into the plants I would be fine with 30 minutes of work to get seeds a day (23 hours) sooner.
Oh and fyi there is another way to take a growth period off.
