Actually if you had read my post more carefully, you'd realise an account tag would stop you from using 6 gm tamer chars to tame 6 a day. No matter which char you tame it with, your entire account cannot tame from that spawn until the timer expires. It wouldnt ruin the mount economy because the timers could be set by staff to increase or decrease the mount supply, instead of being set by the players who, with enough time on their hands, can tame everything on the server and remove the chance for anyone else to. Say there are 5 gm tamers active, yeah, they can tame 5 lava zostrich, but if the timer is 3 weeks on lava zos, thats still a RARE mount. Without stopping new players from finding it. And lava zos is a tough one anyway, not just anyone is going to try it.
Also I traded for many of the spawns I found, I only actually found 3 world spawning mounts on my own. But a fair few of the in demand mounts are in obvious places, deceit, chimera fortress, yew crypts, etc. People are just lazy and dont want to put in the effort to work their way through and get them. So mounts that are actually fairly hard to get will remain very valuble regardless.
Lets use gold stang for example again, I believe its around a 24 hour spawn. Now if I come along and tame it, no one searching for it can find it. And I can probably get it again the next day at around the same time. So then thats two days where no one else can find it or tame it. My idea changes it around only slightly. The mount will respawn near instantly, but your account cannot tame that gold stang again for 72 hours. So now you have to wait for 3 days to get it again, but your not taking away from anyone elses ability to find it or raise skill on it. And you still get your mustang. If the staff wants to make it rarer, they can set the timer to a week. Want more of them on the market for cheaper prices? Lower timer to a day.
The players are exactly that, players, the objective for a player in UO is (generally speaking) to aquire wealth and items, rides, etc. And most of the time, they will not care if taking all they can is hurting other players. The staff however are objective on something like this, they can make an unbiased descision about whether there are too many or too few of certain mounts in game, and adjust accordingly to raise or lower their value.
I hope this helped clear up what I'm talking about. Also dont forget, the players still have to actually find these mounts, they still must work through the dungeons to get them. Or explore parts of the world in search for them. But rather then what we have now, which is, a player looks and looks and looks and passes many mount spawns many times, but never ever seeing them there, the player has no idea. This isnt fair to them.
