Mostly because people are afraid of change. What some people do not understand is that they believe change will force players away from the shard. However if they do not change anything, players are still being forced off the shard.

On the note of afk resource gathering. I do not think it should be legal simply because I feel that it would ruin the economy because you could just afk mining, get like 10k ingots and then macro tinkering/blacksmithing afk. Too easy.
