I like the idea of making some way for tamers to be able to make some money at lower levels, my only concern would be do people really get enough of their mounts killed to justify having a vendor to sell horses for 500g, like Ramza said. I've seen quite a few regular horses around though, and don't think it would be a problem of having enough to sell.
