Server problem: The Shard need more people
#1

I started play few days ago but i can see that the server has a problem and it has stopped growing. I've played on many servers and I think it's a good server but I think that IN be nothing if we dont help to make a good shard.

I've already posted in many Spanish forums abaout Imagine Nation. We must try to make the community grow !!

What do u think about it ? What can we do?

Its a shame if IN throw to trash.

Best regards. BrandeM

PD: Sorry for my english.

I agree that the players must always put forth effort in increasing population..but I don't think as a player who just started a few days ago, that it's fair to say the server has stopped growing. I have probably played well over 35 different servers and some of them were just barely peaking at 45-60 players. I'd say if you've got a server that averages between 125-200 players..you've got the makings of a growing community and potential for more players. Best thing the players can do is help support the server and do what we can to get the word out there. I am sure there are plenty of players, new and old, that would be dying to play a server with old school rules and no limitation on how many skills they can have. I've only been playing here for a couple weeks now, but I can definately tell you I have no worries bout establishing my RP guild here. IMO it's one of the best servers I've played and thus far I haven't found any features that I would put on my Cons list.

Advertising... Best way to get the word out there. (Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Guild Websites encouraging players to join, etc.) [Spamming other servers makes IN look bad]
Inviting former/current players you have contacts with (Players you used to run with on previous servers) (Friends) (Old OSI buddies)
Voting daily

We need active staff that will host all sorta of events for ALL TIMEZONES.

I'd have to agree with Anarchia. I've played many shards and this one, by far is one of the most promising so far. And I'm seeing the amount of events on here is amazing compared my past experiences. I am very impressed! Keep it up Staff.

I have to agree with Scarecrow. We need more events. Once you noobs finish macroing youll realize theres nothing much to do but pvp or mine. I dont think that hosting one ctf or colorwar every week on the weekend like friday or saturday night is too much to ask for.

When i started here, we were around 30-40 players.. most afk macroing skills!
The server has grown up a looooooot in so little time.. its normal some players leave, but i agree with both anarchia and scarecrow!
We do need some more staff to host more events.. but thats not all i know that, but i dont know what else!!
What i know is the shard is great!!

i've never understood why people need the staff to hold so many events for them.

UO is the type of game where you create your own narrative. It's a big map and you can give your character any kind of personality. You can be a killer who hunts for players or you can be a player that hunts PK's. If you're bored in game its not the staffs fault. It's you.

Btw there are a lot of events here already. Practically every time i play i see some kind of announcement for an event.

I'm new but have been playing for a little over a week and every evening when I've been on I've seen atleast one, if not two announcements for events.... so i agree with you... I'm not sure what these other people are seeing....

We had a sweet ad spot on the Top 200 for the last couple months. We don't have that advertising anymore and nobody votes on that site so of course we are going to see a slight drop in the playerbase. The numbers I saw today were still five times the number 3 months ago. Everyone is always quick to proclaim fire and brimstone. We were around for months with 30 players, 150 is nothing to start fainting over.

As far as I can tell most players who are vocal about leaving are leaving because of bad interactions with other players. There is appropriate and intelligent ways to create tension that leads to pvp and then there is griefing. Frankly there is a lot of people being *******s to other players and then they are the same ones complaining about the playerbase. You reap what you sow in that regard.

Same goes for the way players treat staff. When a player is mature and respectful and thankful I am happy to help them and then I might feel like hosting an event because of that positive interaction. When players are constantly begging for events, treating staff like they owe them something, and proclaiming staff does nothing, it doesn't make staff want to interact with players. I'm not saying all players are like this because there are many I truly enjoy helping, but just wanted to put that out there.

not sure if your joking or not, did you just say UO is what you make it? when you have invis pots and recall scrolls you can't make anything out of that. When people gank at the bridge it's like playing tetris trying to wall 1/15 players out to get them it's pretty boring that's why most people leave.. There's automated events such as regs every 8 hours and DM's as well but it doesn't change the fact that its the same thing EVERY time. We need more team events, CTF's CW's Team FFA's 2v2 reps 1v1 reps even hell anything with teams.

As for lately within the last 4 days or so there were events at least one a day which is good, but even you have to admit pages past 6-7 PM Eastern don't get answered until the next day and there wasn't any events before these last 4 days because players have been pushing to try and get some. That's also why you have players in game bugging staff for events because there are none aside from automated tours..

I do answer pages during that timeframe. I will say 6-7 pages doesn't necessarily mean someone isn't answering pages. Often people page and go afk when I'm able to get on to try and answer them so I leave the page for someone to answer later when they aren't afk. Lots of people also page for issues that must be dealt with by Taran or Eru so those pages stay up longer as well.
