I had no intention of sounding like I was dismissing your idea. I actually quite like it. But I also think it would be easier to balance if a few other things were unborked first. Also we have big plans to make dex not useless, but I promise nothing specific at this stage.

I would, however, point out that arrows and bolts generally penetrate plate armour better than they do through hardened leather or chain.
I suppose that makes sense since plate has holes in it whereas chain would block at least a portion of all arrow shots. Except to the face! Anyway that part about different armors is too complicated of a change anyway. I think Siren's ideas are a little more plausible. Ill have to try to kill someone naked with a bow right now and see how effective it is

Is it true that right now Dex > 100 gives no benefit? That would be an easy place to give archery some bonus. Maybe dex > 100 gives more archery damage AND speed? Or one or the other perhaps. I appreciate the staff's interest in the suggestions that are placed here. I think we have a ways to go before it's perfect here, but it will be fun to see it happen.

You are correct about dex, but we already have some ideas about making high dex serve a purpose. Buffing archery may be one possibility, but I don't (can't) promise anything in that regard at this time.

My opinion is: if you walk, the bow timer doesn't reset. If you run, the timer increases by 1 sec so you can't just run and shoot after someone that cant reach you with a melee weapon.

I just wanted to add that I tested out shooting an elven bow on an unsuspecting miner. With 100 strength 80 dex it did almost 20 damage each hit and shoots very fast. I assume a miner has about 100 to 110 hp and it took 6 shots I think. I was shocked how fast it dropped a naked person. Not sure that needs to be increased.
