ive been told several times by some super imagine nation pvpers that this pvp takes skill..
so i was wondering how does this take any skill? ive pvped several times now and all i can see is that you have to wait for an opponent to make a mistake.
so id like some clarification on the subject.
what does take ''skill'' in this kind of pvp?
what do you guys do to actually win vs someone whos been pvping for years and has alot of scripts fighting for him?
please dont flame im just curious.
meh wrong title to the post lol

well it certainly SOUNDS snarky so i want to flame but wont =p
Can you fight me and win 50/50? If not you're doing something wrong lol. There are many elements to the pvp that would make you win. And a 1v1 in a 6x6 arena is much different than real world 1v1. And ganking is a lot different than both, that is an evenly matched 'gank' like a 4v4 or w/e. When outnumbered, you're pretty much dead if its 3+ people on you.
I'd honestly have to fight you to see what you could do better, but for the best pvpers, YES it is about waiting for them to make a mistake, or tripping them up somehow

From my understanding, the scripts that people have aren't as useful in open world PVP since there are usually larger differences in group size, plus there's cover available in the world.
As for the scripts that people use, you could build up a nice collection of those on any server, so one step I suppose would be coming up with your own scripts.
I don't actually PVP so I don't know a lot more, but hopefully someone else can give some tips.

it's a lot of things, i'll attempt to list some.
reaction time
general response speed
foresight
risk assessment
knowledge of the rates (cast values, weapon values, bandage values)
luck

UO PvP comes in a lot of forms, they all take skill, but often players who are used to specific system tend to disregard the skill required in other systems. If you're really interested take part in some of the automated supplied tournaments, or if you prefer a less direct approach you could go to the casino and watch some of the dueling in the basement, doubtlessly the players involved would also be happy to answer some questions if you have any.

i have around 2 dozen [24] PvP macros at the moment, all of which usually apply to open world, but some only apply to open world, like walls and recall and such

It would be cool as hell to see some tamer pvp. If ppl could tame dragons it would be a war zone out there. But I will say the pvp is nice here for the fact "in a group" you can run as a archer mage and still do some damage.
