He'll then stand there like a dope until he has banked his ill-gotten ingots. Day before yesterday he managed to die by what I can only assume was his own energy vortex. I managed to loot his reg bag and a recall rune. I gave the bag of regs to Ayleth and kept the rune.
Yesterday I saw him outside the mine after he had managed to kill another miner. I quickly ran to the bank to gather my pouch containing a few regs and a spear. I went to the mine and saw he was gone. I then recalled to his safe spot which I learned of after looting the recall rune earlier. He was standing out in the open AFK as a criminal. I quickly dispatched him with a few blows from my spear. I obtained nearly 100 of each reg and 100 bandages.
I recalled to Britain bank and a newly blue sKunk appeared. He began to shout for the guards. sKunk quickly realized his attempt was futile so he ran away.
He's a special person.
Honestly, I love this sort of thing about UO. It's what makes UO different to WoW and other games. The brutality, the fighting and adversity, PvP isn't just people dueling, it's people trying to one up each other in succession. I actually miss the days of IN1 where Minoc mines was more or less constantly under PK attack during certain hours and there would be big battles on the bridge when order showed up.

The problem here is that while this is a big part of UO and that's fine I think everyone can accept that the shard cannot afford a string of highway robberies crippling most of the guilds. We don't have the numbers to allow it to happen and the existence of this server hinges on the fact that we keep people here playing.
While many may not like this rule it's probably for the best to keep it in place otherwise there will be no where to play. We need to look at the bigger picture, people have been enjoying themselves just fine so far without guild looting, is this really such a big problem?
"Correlation doesn't imply causation. I think a more reasonable explanation would be that we took out advertising on Top200 and were #1 via votes on Top100 at the same time that a lot of MMOs started to get stale and SW:TOR had a huge fallout of max-levels with nothing to do. "
Fair enough Eru, however Kennedy suggested that this rule would destroy our playerbase while in spite of the rule being here we have actually increased our numbers 1000%, clearly demonstrating that this rule has no effect on anything other than to keep our playerbase consistent.

Let the looting begin! So maybe some day people will stop camping the casino all day and get out in the wilderness and pk. All I see when im on is people spaming POKER POKER POKER POKER. Or if some one has a beef with another they say lets dual in the casino. I would say more but I dont want to flood this thread with other subjects.

I never said it did increase it, I only said that despite the rule being there we have not had a mass exodus of people leaving the shard.

Very sure. IN SPITE Means regardless of. It does not mean because the rule was created we have increased our numbers, only that they have increased even though we have the rule. I even stated "clearly demonstrating that this rule has no effect on anything other than to keep our playerbase consistent" I don't know how I can get more clear than that. you're clearly misunderstanding something.

Nip these type of carebear rules in the bud.....otherwise, more will follow suit.
and THAT will lead to a sh*t playerbase....I guarantee it.
Also, the numbers have spoken for themselves here. Those in favor of guild looting not being punishable by staff outnumber those who do 2:1

24 people have voted out of a shard that has over 200 people this is not a proper sample AND as it has been pointed out before, this is not a democracy, what the players want is not necessarily what the shard needs.

Well a turn out of 24 votes isn't very high. Not that I'm trying to skew the results, but I think it would be better if a few more of our hundreds of players had a chance to respond. But I will say that the crying about carebear rules is getting old already, see the other thread below this, I'm too lazy to repeat myself.

Fulmanar,
what YOU want and what YOU feel the shard needs are not necessarily what the shard needs. You are the only one in here defending this rule, were you the one to cause a stink in the beginning to get it in place?
The other majority of the shard (70% of which is afk macroing skills, im sure) doesn't know this rule is even in effect.
And like I said, this kind of stuff has been going on in uo FOREVER....it's safe to say 99% of all uo players of ALL TIME are aware that this can and does happen to people who demonstrate poor judgement....and its widely accepted. period. And furthermore, that uo is often about exploiting said people with poor judgement in a sandbox environment.
People make STUPID choices, they should suffer the consequences.............period.
EDIT: Dress the rule in whatever color or wording you want. Punishing people for taking items from a chest someone GAVE them access to is the very essence of carebear. Why is stealing even still enabled on this server? Looting? Pking?
