How about you guys implement a Christmas tree, on=@dclick it would give a random item of your guys choosing and would add a trigger or something to the player, so if they try to click again it would say you have already recieved your gift or something, not any gift's that would ruin the economy just something cool. Just an idea let me know what you think. And if you dont have time to do it but like the idea I could make the script i would just need to know the defname's of the items you would like to use.
sure i want 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 gold coins

Okay just finished it up and completed testing.
Each player will get a random holiday package, when they double click the new tree, containing 5 out of 28 possible items.
This tree will replace the current xmas tree at the pits after the reboot sunday.
Also: Older clients (below 6.0.1.0) may not be able to see certain items. If you cannot see the items feel free to page and I will describe them to you and tell you all about how you are missing out or just update your client.

Yeah it's ridiculous that we're updating the game and adding new features etc. Who would want that?

Updating RunUO, adding new quests, events, dungeons and developing server in general is a good thing of course.
But it was planned to be a sphere replica when the server started, and some people use injection, which has problems with newer clients and they can't update it. I have nothing against not getting prize myself, I like UO for it's simplicity anyway. But it sucks to hear that I couldn't if I'd want. Unless I'd switch on razor of course, which would never happen.
How about making addition version of prizes for ones that can't see RunUO stuff?

Make a copy of your client, update uo, and change your client to the old one.
I used to have UO updated and using client 5.0.5 without any problem and still could see new itens and areas like The ants place(I forot the name).

The injection clients we use here are older than 5.0.5 though. I used 5.0.1h m and 4.0.5a.

Well nothing stops you from having a second installation of UO, I myself have 3 installed (added a new one today). Plus saving macros while doing this is as easy as going into your UO folder and copying the desktop folder, since thats where your desktop layout, settings and macros are saved.
As for not seeing the prizes, not all of them are client 6+ items but I think half of them are. There are some you will see no problem.
I doubt there will be any problem if you page and ask for a wreath or something in place of one of the other items or you could simply have a friend trade them with someone else for you, since some of the items are part of a set and people may want to try and get them all.
With that said, I was taking into account the players who actually care for decoration items. Nobody is forcing anybody to update clients but in all fairness, for over a year now if you logged in with an older client you got a message that suggested you update.
While keeping some aspects the same are important, adding new items or mobs doesn't really ruin any feel to the game. We just want to expand the experience of players who are looking for just that.
You have options here so really you don't have much room to complain, especially when this is being done for players and was requested by a player.
Add a second UO installation with an updated client.
Keep your current client because of your choice in 3rd party program and deal with that choice.
Simply update your current client.
Update and replace the new client with an old one (results may vary)
It all comes down to why you are here, keep that in mind.
I personally don't like being limited so I support anything new to the world that enriches it.
Sphere was great but just like it had too many bugs, it was also lacking in material. We are passed the sphere bugs, now its time to fill in the other blank.
