Sindern Wrote:A good thing to encourage PVP is good old fashioned hatred. Loot a house, grief kill someone and make their life hell, trash talk, etc. It makes me happy to see trash talk because that's what causes the PVP that is really satisfying. It's hard for me to believe that someone can come up with complex RP stories, but are unable to find it possible that someone might curse or be rude in a fantasy world. PVP/L337 mentality can easily be stuck into an RP setting as well if you compare them to something like inner-city gangs. A stylized way of speech, seemingly unprovoked violence, materialist mentality, etc. *shrug* I'm rambling. Where's my caffiene?

Hatred doesn't work i litterly get everyone to hate me on purpose. Really i tell you it doesn't work.

Gang is correct Jackal, everytime you guys ask us to create fun on our own to go pvp etc you will always see the same 5-10 people and never IN player's they just deice to watch instead.. Well instead of watching why not pratice dueling in the 1k stone? I mean you can't force anyone to pvp if they don't want to but hell it's so boring for us you're telling us were not allowed having a message for leaving pits because we might kill other people? that's so ridiculous it's a pvp/rp shard once your outside of town your outside of town anything goes you die and lose your items oh well

As a pvper i must say im always incredibly bored i've been macroing the last week and a half on skills i dont even need just because it gives me something to do. players are becoming so independent of gms it's not even funny.. so what i ask you to do is to entertain players so we actually get some life back into the shard..

LudaKrishna Wrote:I agree with GangBang on this one.

And it's the same (6-7..max 10) people who always PvP n gank.

Try that msg when ppl leaving pits for a week, it's worth a shot imo, I don't see why it's being shot down....

Because GM's have mortal characters here which shouldn't be allowed because they can favor it in their own say to protect there mortal if they aren't good. I'm really against GM's having mortals should be like the good old days where if you have a GM you don't have a mortal so you can't cheat etc

Hmm, maybe staff could add monster-bash bosses to unguarded towns every once in a while and allow PVP. Smile Could be fun. Either lots of people will come and PVP or the reds/gankers will have a free boss kill.

Or make it so PVP is enabled, but no loot and everyone gets the same reward xD

Otherwise known as a free-for-all with monsters thrown in. Big Grin

One of the major things I can think of that might serve to be a problem, is having a higher player base and leaving the pits in general, into a tourney area or town or unguarded area, anywhere, You may as well stop whatever your doing, because chances are 60 people are going to be spammed across the screen.

The BEST female GM EVER! Cool

60 people leaving pits at the same time? Unlikely, Maybe when the time comes if it comes that we have over 200 ppl then it would be a small possibility to have that many people leave pits we might see a problem : )

Also the delay on which the text disappears can be quick too right?

"Madman went to ocllo from pits"

Then boom its gone in 1 second

Agreed. And it might be possible to do it so it only applies when taking one of the pads that lead out of pits, and not any gates or when teleported by a GM.

Look! I am capable of making a short post, even I doubted myself! lol

What I dont understand is how is this gonna promote pvp? Honestly all I feel its gonna do is just add more crap to the logs.

Haha, the good old days? What free-shard have you ever played where staffmembers haven't been allowed to have mortals? I for one haven't played any such shard, and I've played and staffed at A LOT of shards.

Staffmembers having mortals is a positive thing in many ways. A staffmember who has a mortal is usually way more effective in fixing small flaws and annoying bugs that they come across. It is way harder for staffmembers to find the flaws if they aren't able to experience them from a players point of view. That plus the fact that the staffmembers are working for free to make you happy, so I think it would be pretty much cruel to not let them "have fun" on an mortal at times as well.

The only downside I see with staffmembers having mortals is that they may get "attracted" to cheat for their mortal, but if staffmembers would abuse their GM powers, like for example spy on mortals and then log on to kill them, or add potions for themselves, or anything even remotely similar to that, then they'd get banned in a heartbeat.

We do not take lightly on hiering staffmembers, it is hard to find good trustworthy staffmembers that can both staff well and whom do not try to cheat for their mortal in any way, but we have such a staff team here. I'm not saying all of us have mortals, but the ones who does do not act partial towards their mortal, and they do not cheat, and they deserve to have a mortal very much, so lets not go there Smoke, feel free to PM me if you notice any staffmember cheating, but I doubt you'll ever find anything like that, these staffmembers have been handpicked because they can be trusted, that plus the fact that we're monitoring logs daily makes me very confident that you won't find any cheating staffmembers here.

Hate

Edit: I'd also like to mention that all the things that "could" make a GM with a mortal have an advantage over any normal player is pretty much always illegal, so there is no need for you to worry, and like I said, feel free to PM me if you notice anything illegal being done, and I will deal with it myself.

Also.. these staffmembers that we have here are very objective in their posts. No matter if they have mortals or not they always try to look at what's best for the shard, not for their mortal. Do you really think that these staffmembers would say something like "lets add coords to the exact locations where players are at right away!" just because they didn't have a mortal character? They think about it from the players point of view, and it is true what they say, if we would display the exact location and you would go to these locations 24/7 and kill the hunters all day long as soon as they leave pits then they will stay in pits 24/7 for sure, or in their house, and be even more scared than what they are now, so those arguments are not made up just to "protect their mortals" or whatever you seem to think.. :/ Try to think about it from an all-around perspective, because if we make it too easy for you to hunt newbs then the newbs will quit and then the shard will be empty, and then it won't be fun for anybody, not even for you. :/

Get out of my head hate! I agree with what you said 100%. Now what do you think about the actual suggestion of this thread? hahaha do you see any ways to abuse it or any shortcomings of it?

What should the message say (just someone left pits or where they went from pits)? Should everyone be able to turn the message on and off as they like or is it always on? If you can turn it on/off, does the setting apply to the whole account or just one character?
