people departing from pits
#1

Well it came to my attention while looking over some old screen shots a buddy sent me from old xuo, I thought it would be a good idea to add the command that tells people when you leave pits like in old xuo it would show how many people who are active if they leave the pits and it may promote ganking considering what town they enter. All in all i think it will provoke activity no matter what with no harm being done.

Heres the screen shot of what it said when you use to leave pits in old xuo and it worked out great. (dont mind the gold :p)

That would actually be pretty cool as long as it doesn't say every sub area someone enters like like 'smoke has entered destard', 'eighty swords has entered fire dungeon' etc.

Agree with Eighty Swords Wink! It would be really cool.!

Could you explain a bit more in detail how it worked?

Was there a command so you could decide for yourself if it should broadcast when you left pits? And if so, did that message only broadcast to other players who has that command on?

And if so... couldnt you just turn on the command in pits, then turn it off and exit pits so noone would know?

How did it announce? In your screenshot it only says "xxx has departed from Yew Territory". It doesnt say pits?
Also, did it say where that player went?

I think everything that can reveal your location had to be a command to turn on/off.

Yea, I dont like people knowing where I am!

Woot more screen spam...

So if say 50 people were to go or exit a specific area like that, your screen would get flooded?

This is a lot less specific then giving the co-ordinates of everyone like on the XUO status page! Imagine seeing Ryuuku @ 1234 1234 0 This tells people exactly where you are. Just saying 'Ryuuku has entered Yew' makes people have to look in ALL of Yew for you.

I really like the idea and think it will help make the server more active since you will know more or less where to find someone.

Haha, if you know someone is in Yew (or any city) you think its hard to find he? If you are gm Tracking you just need a 2 min run to find the person.
For me its same as give coords but with less work, since you need to open uoam and write the coords there.

If you like knowing where people are or let people know where you are its simple add the command to turn on/off and turn your on.
I dont need to know where people are.

Also like Shade said, its a +1 spam speccially with alot people on.

Meh seeing Randomperson has entered Destard isn't much different then giving coordinates. Chances are they are on the second or third level, which would take 30 seconds to find them and really thats quicker then knowing coords, since you dont have to open UOAM or something to find the location.

If this was enabled for dungeons it would make people hunt a hell of alot less. If it was just for entering/exiting the pits though, I don't really see harm in that as long as it could be turned off. My journal gets flooded enough as it is.

That's exactly what I said... "as long as it doesn't say every sub area someone enters like like 'smoke has entered destard', 'eighty swords has entered fire dungeon' etc."

Dont need to much time to find anyone in anyplace if you know where he is.

If it just say where people go when leave pits like, Minoc,Brit,Ocllo, I dont see problem.

But I still dont like any idea that reveal the place you are to the whole shard.
