AutoSupply Good Or Bad?
#1

So for the past couple of days i've been trying to think of why there is such a low player base.

I think that AutoSupply duels could kinda of be the reason why and read this whole thing through before you respond.

I personally believe that AutoSupply kills the IN-X Economy.

#1- People don't need to use ANY of their supplies in duels anymore (in events), hence ALL pvpers don't need to stock up on supplies/macro tons of skills.

#2- No supplies means less ganking in Occlo/Brit Bridge.

#3- So why would we play on a shard that we have all these things for and never use them?

I do realize that AutoSupply does in fact give a common dueling ground.

However if I look back to old shards (mainly XUO) people rarley did AutoSupply Events and because of that you always had people hunting for better weps, macroing to gm skills so they can then make supplies aka scrolls/pots/armor

Maybe this was changed in IN-X as an incentive for people to come and duel here without having to do all that stuff 1st (which might I add probably has to do with the way skill gain is done here as it takes FOREVER to gm some skills), but honestly I don't think IN-X can grow with AutoSupply Events always happening.

I mean what's the incentive for pvpers? Show off that cool bard you have but never use it?

This might have to tie into with skill gain on IN-X, as honestly it does take forever to gm some skills. Rabbi told me he took 1 month CONSTANT mining and blacksmithing (with skill stone I believe).....1 month 12 hrs a day to just gm those skills. I'm not saying it should be a week but what about ppl that don't play 12 hrs a day? We're going to wait what a year to gm a skill?

Just wanted opinions and see if other people were thinking the same.

P.S: Not sure if this is in the right section

I saw Odium doing a regular not suplied those days and I hope he continue doing no suply more and more.

About the bs, I think the skill gain is ok. Even with that skill gain have loads of gm bs and no one buying armors, If they make it easier and everyone gm it, what crafter going to do? sell armors for 1k?

Also there is always the option of hosting events always non supplied, but for new players they can supply them with normal plate, normal weaps, and the infinite scrolls/pots/regs. This puts the autosupplied people at a disadvantage from those who bring their own gear and scrolls/pots/regs but allows them to compete if they are new or unable to afford tourny gear yet. I agree though, autosupply is terrible for the INX economy. Free duels is one thing, because thats just giving people some practice and fun between two people, its not an event.

You'd be surprised if you really think back to XUO. Almost every event was autosupply. At first reps weren't autosupply, but because some people went forever before they died (smoke, scarecrow, silverwolf, dramatic, etc) it wasn't fair to these people because they would use all their supplies to win a ticket and then everyone else got a ticket too for doing nothing. These guys were using more then 10k worth in supplies for a ticket worth 10k. After this everything except regs were auto. And the weekly reg was auto too.

In the end though, I do agree with the concept that too much auto supply does lower the economy. Look at scrolls in the vendor mall; 100 lightning sell for 1k-2k. On XUO 100 lightning scrolls sold for 10k and almost everybody had GM inscription anyways.

I think the staff just want people to participate since there are so many other things keeping the economy in check. And in the last month or so since I've been playing again, it has been a fairly low player base so that's another reason they are probably doing auto supply.

I dunno, I dont really remember all that much of my xuo experiance, it was brief. I played old ***** for years though and we never had any autosupplied tournies... unless it was like color war or whatever. And we had a lot more loot ffa's and stuff. But with 250 av online you can do stuff like that. Your right the low pop just now is the reason for autosupply. Things are lookin up tho Big Grin A month ago there were like 8 online, now 50, its looking good indeed Big Grin

Maybe near the end of XUO2 but i remember XUO1 and some of XUO2 all non-auto

Anyways I hope more events will be non-auto

btw theres like no gm's online at night (EST timezone) i find.

gms like to do autosupply because it's better for new players and it's easier for them to just make people stand on a pad instead of asking them if they are ready. But I agree we use items for a reason and we should have more non autosupplied tournies (with our own items)

Make the autosupply regular gear... Iron Platemail and Regular Bardiche. Lets try and slowely rule it out because the best regs were always with our own gear, its stupid when everyone looks the same and it gives no point for anyone to hunt or do anything. For the record, i was the most active Pvper on Xuo2 and most of the events were NOT autosupply. The regulars were mostly with our own gear and there was a surplus of items in the world because the hunting was awsome and so easy to get items.

If an event isn't auto for everyone, then it's low quality gear given to the people who want auto. At least that's what I've seen the last few weeks when there was a reg.

correct, i do eventually think players will stop joining with only regular autosupply gear when they realise that you dont haev a chanse with it and then this 'problem' will be solved aswell and people will do their best to get their own torny gear and resources.

my fear however is... to get resources u need to gain skills......and for some of them they take ridiculously long, thus what does a player do then? stop playing?

there needs to be a global fix imo
