49 players online!!!
#13

I agree with Shade, it has nothing to do with staff.

What does this have to do with?
-The most obvious reason for a sudden influx in players is of course due to Slaethin's advocacy. Advertising on TDO, telling player stop playing there, and by offering justifications for playing IN-X.
-The fact that Slaethin is playing, servers as an attraction as players are entertained him.

Now, given that this population is increasing, most shards in the past, whenever players suddenly get into a server and the population is at a peak, the Staff tend to ruin it.

1. They start having this feeling of superiority now that they are in power of a larger player base. (DONT DO THIS!!!)
2. As a result of this superiority they (staff) feel that jailing one or two players for little peevish aggravations is justified by the fact that they have 50 other players. The flaw in this logic is that you jail one player and the domino effect occurs, many of these players are intertwined deeply into the server. Ie. You get rid of Slaethin, there goes all the TDO players he brought with him, and all those players who are amused by his false stupidity that he exhibits throughout the game. Bah a better example would be Rabbi. You destroy Rabbi, there goes IN:X economy :/ who to buy the cream of the crop weapons and armor from now? In conclusion, I urge staff to remain as they always have and foster a laizze faire government system in which they try as little as possible to interfere with the playerbase. Too much tourneys is not a good thing! By hosting too much tourneys, those that are kicked out in the beginning feel exluded temporarily and it inhibits the start of ganks!

Ganks create player base as far as im concerned. Ofcourse in the PVP realm they do. Ganks serve as an indicator for player activity, (once again im speaking in PVP terms only, so hunting would be the counter part to this) as a result try not to jail players for even walling or paralyzing or whatever.

A good shard, would really eliminate all possibilites that players have to get jailed. Like fixing bugs that players are able to abuse. By not fixing those bugs, you are basically setting yourself up to fail because players will always act as your generic adolescent 12 year olds. (I am no exception, although my reasoning is quite frankly more sophisticated). So what I'm hinting at is just make parafields unable to be casted in that certain location!

By typing anymore I'm probably decreasing the strength of my argument.

Bottom line: Dont **** it up! (because alot of shards do this) I left TDO because staff started acting retarted and ****y cuz they felt like they could do what they wanted since they had the highest playerbase, just look at them now! Beware of Slaethin's disastrous effects

What an adorable post. Rolleyes

Well minus this:

Slaethin Wrote:try not to jail players for even walling or paralyzing or whatever.

We won't ignore people breaking rules just so we can get an extra active player. The rules are in place for reasons and everyone needs to respect them or suffer the consequences.

I'm glad our hard work is finally starting to pay off. Next step, get a new server so we can get out of Beta and send out e-mails...

i agree with your post Slaethin,
Altough behaviour that soley is there to ruin for others have never been accepted.

I have myself jailed people for "boxing" the entrance to ocllo, but we (the staff) have used other punishments than jail. Stuff that force a player to "work" and when they have completed the task given by staff they have been released. (this behaviour might seem as 'powerabuse' in your eyes) but it's not, i choose that instead of jail (for some non homepage stated rules) because i think its more 'fun' and better for the punished player to be able to actually do something instead of staying afk/logged out in jail.

I get what your trying to explain in your post - and im sure everyone agrees with you.

My advice to everyone that feel 'abused' by a staff member is to:
1. act mature tell the staff this during the conversation (dont spam; idiot, whore, i leave for shard xxx and other insulting comments - as staff are people aswell Wink)
2. Email or PM Taran, even here as mature as possible explain what happened what you did and what the staff did ([email protected])

I do not hope anyone ever will have to feel rejected or 'abused'. But if you do please dont enter a "nerdfrenzyrage" take it calm and try to follow the suggestions above if you fail with step one then goto step 2 above. And let Taran handle the staff.

Remember that Taran got very detailed logs of all staff (its like a video basically) Wink special logs for commands speeches etc.

I guess what i am trying to say is that the giving and taking have to be a two way communication. only because your a player your not allowed to do whatever you like. Rules are there for a reason. If you find it 'funny' or w/e there is in 99% of the cases one or more players on the other end that dont. (should smart/somewhat abusing players be able to benefit on the laughter on other players, i dont think so and i do not think you do eather)

But like i said, i did read your post and i agree with what your saying, but it has to be a two way communication and respect given from both sides (respect towards in-x from players, and respect given from staff to players) I have personally seen some players scream and act really imature to some staff and the staff have done nothing. so please respect should go both ways.

But yes i agree! and i found your post good. As that is something i believe everyone need to think about (not only staff) but i agree on that staff have to think about it more than players, and i also agree on that staff is the face outwards towards the community and players, and thus need to be more "proffesional".

Its definitely paying off, I'm really glad people are playing and enjoying the shard again. You guys have done a great job the last few months. Don't let up though! Keep adding to the shard and making improvements!

I kinda disagree with slaethin a little, the active staff in game, hosting events etc has really been awesome lately. I log in and theres almost always something fun going on. The shard feels very alive and the staff taking time to host events for the players is a great way to bring people together especially in a period where we're building a playerbase.

If it keeps on like this we may see 80-100 within a month. Man we really need that server Taran Smile

Did you miss my last thread Odium? I don't think so since you actually posted in it, but that's a perfect example of behavior there only to ruin the play for others or doing something that some people find funny and others don't. Apparently it's acceptable or I'm the exception to the rule and I'm an open target Sad. One second it's a ffa the next there's limits on what can be done...

In other news, great work by the players and staff lately. I think it's a joint effort to increase the playerbase. Some people love seeing lots of events and that's what makes them log on or tell their friends, and others likeall the different content offered on INX. It's a fine balance between the two and I think we're hitting it right on the mark Smile keep it up guys.

What i meant by "solely there to destroy for other players"
Are when they break "rules"(as in rules added by ingame signs) to destroy for other players.

We are not out to pick on you, killing people in guarded towns is legal, as explained by me in the other topic why.

I said that cause i recently did see people box the entrance to ocllo eventough there are signs that say "do not block this area". And the people did it anyway. Killing people in guarded towns is not something we look on as something that can destroy for other players as they can do something against it. While running on a pitspad and end up in a paralyze field trappen between 4 boxes isnt.
