This may or may not go over well. This is an idea Tabion and I came up with and we would like to know what others think. Having 2 handed wepons swing a little faster than normal. You dont have the luxury of having a shield with GM parry so why not have it swing a little faster? Not much balancing would have to take effect if any at all. Also this would make other weapons more popular, instead of seeing everyone running around with a Bard, Hally or Battle axe. Please provide some input. I mentioned this to a few staff members as well who expressed interest in the proposed change.

Also I forgot to mention how this will help with the pvm on the shard also. Anyone offer any other ideas/suggestions/input?

Wouldn't making two handed weps faster make them even more popular? Did you mean slower by chance?

As it stands right now two handed weps are the preferred choice in pvp. I can see how with pvm this might be a nice change as hunting with a hally sucks versus a one handed wep and shield. Well that is if you choose to melee your target anyway.

Well two handed weapons normally do more damage right? Seems like a good reason to sacrifice a shield to me.

well I actually meant the change more so for PvM, not so much for PvP.

I know, but it does affect pvp too. Anyways before someone gets onto the topic of this isn't xuo anymore yadda yadda yadda, remember that these kind of changes affect more then just one thing Smile

Its not hard to make a weapon do diffrent things versus monsters and players. One great example is that we for example can make players only attack monsters in monsterbashes but not other players. if target type of playermobile do xx if targe...... not that easy but very much doable

While the idea does have promise, there's probably a lot more important stuff to work on first. I'd love to see the less used weapons finally have a use, but it's a lot of time to balance them, and people would have to do a lot of calculations and test runs, and eventually we'd just end up with a new "best" weapon that everyone uses. At least bardiche looks cool. It would be terrible news if the new best turned out to be something like a hammer pick. Tongue

Here's an idea that I'm stealing from World of Warcraft. What if you could "disenchant" the magical weapons that are crappy to get materials to make other weapons stronger?

I.E. You can disenchant a vanq weapon to get vanquishing dust that you can apply to a non-magical weapon like a bardiche. You could disenchant like 5-10 crappy vanquishing weapons to get enough magical dust to make one vanq bardiche. Then, you could do the same for tactics, though you might want to make it a max of like +15 tactics so that a +25 vanq bard is still godly.

a slightly off example would be our custom weapons and how they only have special features outside of events and specific areas. another would be the basic mechanics of silver weapons. though we don't currently use these they aren't too hard and have special abilities versus certain mobiles.
