Status ?!?

Just because it isn't perfect doesn't mean it can't be up. I never really understood why the bugs couldn't be slowly worked out on a test server while IN:X stayed alive. Obviously there are still some players who are diehard fans and such... if nothing else they should be able to hang out.
If there is a hosting issue or lack of staff to watch over and help players, I can help out on either end.
One thing is for sure though, just because the shard didn't live up to some peoples expectations doesn't make it a failure. Just look at the fact that there is still a following. My post will probably serve no purpose, which is why I haven't posted in awhile as it seems pointless. That doesn't mean I wasn't checking up on the shard and I have a feeling I wasn't the only one silently watching.
an update would be cool, even if its bad news... still better then no news.

It's not a lack of staff as much as a lack of dedicated developers.
For the time being, we simply don't have the time or energy to work on this enough to ensure that if the shard does go back up it will be maintained.

You have to understand that for a lot of developers in the RunUO community, UO itself got boring years ago. Now that we're burned out on developing shards, there isn't much more we can do with this game.

Why does it need to be maintained? Put it up as is and leave it until someone (which probably wont happen) gets motivated to "Develop" it. It looks pretty developed to me....

The issue is that there are major bugs that have needed fixing for a long time. Without a developer who can fix these issues these major bugs are allowed to remain and people take advantage of them unfairly. In turn there are the players who get upset that these issues aren't being fixed. Without being able to fix these issues we don't want to put the shard back up. At least this is my understanding.

so is it a question of whether the players are more upset having to play with bugs or not playing at all? Or is it a question of who is upset with the bugs?

Bugging has always been a easy fix solution of .kill and .ban . There were bugs on IN1 That were never "Truly fixed" and solved this way, and surely whatever bugs exist now can be fixed this way too. We might not have dev's to fix them, but we sure as hell have GM's who can watch over the small population thats left and keep them in line.

I think i can speak for a majority of people who would rather see IN:X up and running as is, then stored away on some external hard drive in a dusty drawer next to some 70's porn.

and +1 to carl btw.

I have confirmed word from AptaR that the shard is going live tomorrow night!

No need to fix "the myriad bugs, it's stable as is."

That's great news!!
