Clearing up some things about the players.
#1

This post is strictly for the people that want to be seriouse and have something to say that they have to say. I want Maka to know how everyone feels about all of the hard work he put into this shard and how much it means to us that he's here to watch it grow as we will in the near future. As i'm sure you've all read his post,

http://www.in-x.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3537

I have.. i just saw it tonight and it makes me feel like an ass because i know that i was one of those complainers... we all in some way were and still are. Nothing is perfect and it will only become better with time and more effort.

This is what i have to say to Maka and Taran:

Ok.. When the shard started, I started with high hopes of playing on the greatest shard ever and.. it started off as i expected... I had a blast on it and i still do.. even when im in pits chillin and talking with people from other countries, teaching kids how to PK, owning trash talkers, winning tours.. all these things are great. This shard even got the Scarecrow to start hunting.. which doesn't happen . I started seeing the better things Ultima Online had to offer and it was because of you too. This shard is awsome, there's no doubt about that.. It is going places whether people complain or not.

I appreciate everything both of you have done and i am trying my best in game to help as much as i can because i realize how difficult it is, i had a close staff-member friend explain to me what i wasn't paying attention too and he was right. You guys are the reason this shard is here, everything in it was made by you guys and it is truely a great start. Think about it.. 140 players active this mourning.. 140 players was unreachable in Xuo2 and that shard lived for quite a long time until corruption overthrew it.

I'm basically saying Thank you. Thanks for all the hard work and I apologize for my negativity. I appreciate everything you guys did for the shard and i think it's a great project and should not be left unfinished. Maka, i understand how you feel and i would feel the same way, but i think i know you pretty well and i know you still have a place for XUO PVP in your heart just like I and every other PVPer does. I hope you will one day decide to return from retirement and continue this great project.

I'm just hoping that everyone on this shard is on my side when i say that i'm not being negative about anything anymore, i'm gonna be appreciative but, we need a start.. we need a sign of activity.. one of you too that will give us another shot.

I hope you take this into consideration... Please post what you guys feel.. tell them if you appreciate what they did... we always let out the bad sides of ourselves, i think nows the time to tell Maka and Taran what we think is good.

Regards,

Scarecrow [Prototype].

I agree with a lot of the things you're saying, Scarecrow. It's hard to appreciate the work that goes on behind closed doors when things aren't made translucent. This shard has a great start, and it's still young, but there aren't unlimited things that need to be done with it. Like everything else that evolves, I think that as long as there is someone continuing to plug on and do work, add mods, tweaks scripts and host tournies, this shard can continue to be enjoyable and well-kept.

My hope is that Maka's post isn't signaling the death of the shard, just how he feels about being unappreciated - for ****'s sake, he put a lot of work into the shard. What I think we need to do is ride through the rough times (I honestly believe that we've made it through the worst) and continue to improve and refine as we evolve as a shard. Sure the INers and XUOers were going at it like crazy when you mixed them together; it's sort of like mixing sugar and salt together. From the outside they may look the same, but if you analyze the mix it's not really put together. What we need to do is add a little water, some heat, and continue to stir the pot to figure out what will improve the shard!

I have a great time every time I log onto the shard. Whether it's talking to players (Gees, I even get along with some of the PKs now), to crafting, hunting, fishing, etc, I really enjoy myself.

I'm just hoping that everything will continue to pan out and we can get some mods down the road to draw in new players. The groundwork is set and thats the hardest part! We have only to continue to pave the way to the future for this shard - and the future is bright.

Ignore the haters, the flamers, and the losers. That's not what IN stood for in the past and I'm sure the XUOers won't stand for anything less than excellence. Let's stick together and continue to work on our path to IN:XUO greatness!

Who's with me?!

Is that the same maka that played XUO on sphere? If so, that's a shame that I won't get to play with him agagin. Sad

Hmm. What is the scripting language like for RunUO? I'm pretty good with picking up programming and I'll have some free time I can spend on a few scripting projects. I used to script the heck out of Sphere but I've forgotten most of it, and I can script AutoItv3 pretty well.

If you have some projects and a link to some scripting references, I can write something up and submit it for approval.

First of all i wanna let clear that i respect all the work maka did and so just to let it clear.
The main problem with the so called "whining post" its that we dont really get any answers for staff if in the first post about of subject staff give us an answer then its over, but if staff never answer someone ask for it today then ask for it tomorrow then the next day...
I mean that post are staff fault too and im sorry about breaking that thank you maka moment but even with the high respect i have for him i cant accept that all the the fault come to the players shoulders.
Hope to see back in action server really needs u.

Yeah, that's me from sphere, or one of my names.

RunUO is written in C# and it is a full programming language, quite a bit unlike scripting. I used to do some AutoIt when I wrote WoW bots, but it's really nothing like it, even if that might help you learn. If you are interested, I suggest that you first look up C#(C Sharp) on google, then go to the RunUO web page and download the server files. If you then still feel interested, just send off a PM or email to taran.

Difference is that I quit while staff still were active. I answered almost every question on the forum, even when I was scripting. I also managed to answer quite a few questions on IRC. The staff team did their best to answer pages in game (as I had pretty much no time to be ingame).

I'll just use the PvP issue as an example. People kept asking over and over again if we were going to implement armor scalar on certain spells (Eb, Arrow and Explo), so that naked ganking would be less beneficial. I answered in about 3 different threads that we would, and I even gave some examples on how I thought it should/will be. Yet, you had like 5 people saying that we don't listen to them, and that we refused to make positive changes in PvP. According to them we just didn't care what they said and that made us a bad staff team and a hopeless shard. This was while my computer was dead, but I was still working with code and algos. I never sent in my code, even though it was finished (think that someone else fixed it later?), cause it was about at this point that I stopped caring.

So no, I know exactly why I left, and at that time, I think our staff were one of the best and most dedicated that I've seen. The issue you described might (and probably is) the problem now, but I'd say that one of the many issues was that people either did not read our answers, respect them or appreciate that we couldn't possibly put in more time that we already did. We couldn't seem to hire more devs, and you ask yourself why? We already tried, 5 or 6 times, but failed.

They are either not knowledgeable enough, have to little time, get bored after 3 fixes or {some random problem here}, the list just continues. Now, even if they managed to pass that, there is still the trust issue. There is enough people that wants the scripts, even enough people that would pay for a sphere replica on RunUO. I've been offered decent amount of money (more than we gotten as a total through our donations) numerous times to actually fix only certain systems (spell, combat, AI), not even the full shard. So granted, we do not want to hand our code out to the public.

So at the point I was still dedicated to this server, at the point when I felt like doing my best to make it work, and things were going pretty much as good as they could. We had change logs every week, with HUGE amount of fixes and updates, staff coverage almost all the time and forum coverage. Granted, development would have been faster with more than taran and me working with the code (Odium did some fixes too), but we could not find any devs. Non the less, development was far from slow and the staff were dedicated.

I don't feel good about being back on the forums so this is my last reply. Think that I've said everything I needed to say, so its back to real life. I wish everyone the best of luck.

That's exactly what he is doing by leaving- ignoring all the negativity.

Keep up the goods in life, Maka.

LOL thats what I used autoit for also. Ever heard of WoW Angler? I sold like a hundred to two hundred copies on ebay before blizz filed a complaint with ebay. I think I'm gonna make it free and donation based now that I can't auction it.

What did you script for wow? Or was it just personal stuff? Ad if you say something like glider or innerspace I'm gonna shit a brick.

I use AutoHotKEy for EVE online skill trainers and miners, same deal, a pretty versatile macro/script utility...if I was into WoW [sucks no PVP loot, leveling grinding...blah everyone trying to get me on it] I would prolly use the same utility. Fun stuff :]
