Yeah this idea is definately a shard changer. Once the shard is open, those interested in this (including gms) should get together and make this idea happen.

Yeah, I really loved the idea so I made myself a "TODO when makas has time" list. This idea is included, plus a quest system and an event supply system to make it easier for staff members to make "custom" events.

I can promise you guys that this is getting in and I'll try to get it in somewhat fast after the shard opening.

Even with the real estate agents, there's still the problem of empty plots. What about if each custom plot had a "default" appearance? That way, while the house was being worked on, there would still actually be a house, instead of an empty plot. That would also free up GA for other things.

For example, a 1 story 12x12 could look like a 3 room house by default, but would still be customizable to the player's specifications.

I recall a few years ago, there was a program that allowed you to create a house, and if you had GM or higher powers on a shard, you could press a button through the program, and click and it would actually spit out the command and create the entire structure. I will try to find out where this was, but I used it before.

[edit]
Alright I found what programs I was talking about, one was from 2003, one from 2004. It was UO House Builder, and UO Architect. I searched for a bit on google for those programs, and all links came back as invalid. If anyone else would like to try and help searching for those we may be able to track something down?

the idea behind the real estate agents is that you are paying them to make you a house. if they don't build it, they don't get payed. so this is like forcing them to build it, an incentive. it wont be someone who places an empty lot to reserve the spot for them later when they have the 600k or whatever it costs to build it when they have the time.

There would be no empty plots, as the people designing their house, would be designing a "deed". When that deed has been approved people would be able to buy it from a vendor/real estate agent.

Ah, got you now. Must've skipped a few posts, as I was still under the impression the real estate agents would have to be teled to GA to build the house.

Oh, I must've skipped a few also. Well, that seems like a good idea.

coupon fork i know the program Uo architect u are talking about. It can only be used by staff though its like a world building tool. Pretty handy when you are creating a world from scratch because uo architect allowed you to import other peoples houses/create ur own house.

i wish i had kept the map from an old shard me and gris use to world build on. It was a middle earth shard and had one of the best world builders i have every seen. We had gondor with the big walls and built into the mountain, the elves houses built up in big trees and walkways between the trees. good times

Question Regarding houses being lootable...They're really not. Anything in a locked down container cannot be opened by anyone but co owners.
