Installing UO on my new PC
#1

UO seems to be working fine on my laptop, but it's not so happy in my desktop. Okay, so here is what I did so far...

Downloaded UOML
Installed UOML
Ran UOPatch.exe and patched to latest version.
Downloaded Razor Client
Downloaded Required files for INX
Copied the client and required files to UO directory.
Downloaded latest version of Razor
Installed Razor
Ran Razor

I get this error "Razor was unable to locate and load a suitable UO cliloc file. Some text may not be displayed"

Now, I went ahead and ran UO anyhow and connected. But the client locks up every now and then for no reason.

I resinstalled several times, same results every time.

I am running Vista Home Ediition and I installed .NET 1.1 (even though I have 2.0 installed already).

Read through the forums, looked at RunUO forums, etc. Please help me make this f'ing error go away!!!

When u say it freezes... does it go gray and shows as not responding? i had this with Vista Home Premium as well. If u wait a bit anywhere from 10 - 50 seconds it comes back... like i said on another thread im still trying to figure it all out and a fix.

Coldrake id suggest going back to XP neway :p

Two things to try.

1. Turn UAC off in profile options or

2. Run as Administrator "right click Razor.exe or whatever shortcut" and choose that option. Vista has wierd permission issues and some applications dont work right. Might wanna try running it in Compatiability mode as well for XP.

Im using vista and i have no problems at all
#6

I installed UO on Vista and had some other problems which are irrelevant but forced me to play UO on XP instead. Had no cliloc errors while running UO on Vista. However, when I ran the version installed for Vista on XP (triple boot) I get same error about cliloc file.

I just shrug it off and I've had no problems other than that annoying dialog each time I launch UO using razor. No crashing or any other serious problems.

Look at my post. Never had one problem whatsoever yet. And I did go overboard with the Vista features so I'm not explaining how to do it with minimum security.

Well I played around with it and think I got it working pretty good. I still get the error, but I don't seem to be crashing anymore.

Only issue I have left now is with Pandora's Box. Very odd too. When I load PB for the first time, it wants to setup a profile. Then the application loads and works great. If I close it down and reopen it though, it will load the spashscreen, but the application never shows up. Not on the system tray either. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, and got same thing. I can make a new profile each time, and it works... but what a pain in the ass that is. Taran said he is running Vista and doesn't have any issues.

It seems that it may have something to do with .NET and Vista. Both application (Razor and Pandora's Box) are .NET 1.1 applications. Which I have 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 installed on Vista and it should work fine.

Just frustrating, spent hours ****ing around with this last night and wanted to see if anyone else had run into this or similar issues. I will try some of your suggestions as far as running the apps as Admin and stuff like that and see what happens.

I had the same error. I completely removed razor, UO, deleted anything related to UO. Installed and patched to client 6.0.1.6 after installing razor. No problems. It seemed to have a problem when I renamed my UO directory.
#10

So you installed Razor first, then installed and patched UO? I think I did the opposite. I installed UO, patched, copied INX files in, installed Razor, then got that lame error. Makes me wanna punch somebody.
#11

I am getting the same thing on XP. It seems to be a razor issue. Only side effect I've seen is that the skill names do not show up in the razor skill tab, just shows the cliloc numbers. I haven't locked up or crashed or anything.
#12

I had the error with winXP, and now with Vista too. UO works fine tough.

I do however get a new bug with Razor and Vista, i cannot see my reagents at the top of the window like normally. No errors or anthing, just doesnt show. anyone got the same, or maybe even a fix?
