Skill gain ain't hard.
In a full day of hunting for money to buy regs, then buying the regs and started to macro magery, i have gone from 84 magery to now 90 magery, in a ****ing full day of playing UO.
Come on it's easy.
Alot of ppl complain about healing is slow.
It's ****ing easy.
Last night i spend 700 bandages and gained 0,9% in healing. it takes around 2,5 sec's to use your healing skill so thats
700 bandages x the delay 2,5 sec = 1750 sec or 29 min.
I fail to see healing as a hard skill to GM if you can gain around 2,0% of healing a houer. This was done with around 80% in healing.
Now please tell me again that the skill gain rate is slow.

Need pots or stangs drop me a PM, i got it all.

XUO players came from PvP shard. So we need fast skillgain and fast money for ganking. Beware of us INR crafters. XUO players will dominate the shard.

mabe we make a hells city of macro near brit bank or change color of britain to red? bloody red? or FIReEEEEeeeEE

I dunno about you but i tend to get my anatomy up when i train my weapons skills and healing, eval int when casting spells. Or both skills if my PC is just standing idle. So it takes no real time from my game play.
Dunno about the hiding and stealth skills, ain't using them. But they are easy to macro when the PC is standing idle as the other non ressource required skills.

The shard will become boring if we make skillgain too fast. Everyone will be GM in all skills and how fun would that be? You would be totally independent and that's not what UO is about. Combat skills are easy to train now, so if you're a PvPer that shouldn't be a problem.
Crafting skills should be hard to train. That makes people more dependant on eachother, some will be GM blacksmithing, some GM inscription and so on. Makes room for trading and interaction between players.

Not to say skillgain won't be tweaked again, but I doubt I will make any drastic changes. Everyone who thinks skillgain is too slow should tell me what skill they are training, what % they are at, how they are training the skill and how long it has taken to gain a certain amount.

Ask and you shall receive, sir. Just macroed all night again. A little over 10 hours. Here are the results:

Wrestling: 12.5 @ 74.5 1.3%/hr
Parrying (Until TEN of my shields broke) 3.2 @ 73.0 0.3%/hr
Tactics 3.2 @ 79.2 0.3%/hr
Healing 2.2 74.0 0.2%/hr

Compare this to last nights data:

Swords +9.9% (95.6) [.8%/hr]
Anat +9.0% (94.9) [.75%/hr]
Tactics +6.1% (74.1) [.5%/hr]
Healing +2.8 (70.3) [.2%/hr]
Parrying +2.4 (67.7) [.2%/hr]

I think it's safe to come to the conclusion that skills like Healing and Parrying and probably tactics are goig up too slow. If archery and magery are set at the same speed for healing, they are WAY too slow as well IMO.

I've literally spent the whole time on the shard macroing combats, and I don't have much to show for it. I GMed swords after approximately 75 hours of macroing. This is far from the '24-36 hr to GM a combat' figure. If you are looking to achieve that amount of time to GM a combat skill, you need to increase the rate of skill gain. I'm not even 60% of the way to GMing healing and I've put in about 75 hours of pure macroing.

I understand why you want to crafts to be a slow gain, but why do you think it is necessary to macro for excruciatingly long amounts of time before we can pvp?

I encourage anyone who reads this thread to post data of your skill gains after a large sample (>6 hours). Please post things such as magery, archery and healing, as those are very important pvp skills and the gains are silly slow. I'm not pulling these stat gains and hourly gain rates out of my ass.

Kano +1
And i thing alchemy and inscription are pvp skills to. They must grow faster!!!!!!

ps
INX- pvp or craft(pvm) shard?

About your healing and parrying, you must be able to do that more efficient. If you heal and parry constantly you should gain faster than that.

XUO'ers bashing on taran, cut it. Im not going to fight and lash out at you but simply bring up a point

This skillgain is the same as we HAD to deal with to GM those skills you all so valiantly whine about.

If you don't enjoy working and then achieving rewards you have not grasped the bull by the horns so to speak.

I agree Healing and tactics seem to be going too slow, but thats about it.

Sure I transferred with my character, but I have been training a second and know whats cute? I don't even have to look at the screen while hes macroing. Heck I can go outside and breathe some fresh air. Concept?

I never and will not bash on Taran. Please show me where I have.

Also in regards to your concept... What concept would that be? The concept of not playing the game that you are supposedly playing? Yeah great concept.

Oh, and I love this:

Really? How the **** do you know? This is runUO, not whatever you are used to. The devs had to re-script the skill gain algorithm, not just copy and paste the exact gains to what you are used to. It is a different rate than what you are used to because it is a new shard. Get it? We are all supposed to work together to find a good skill gain rate... That's why we are in what is called BETA stage.

Look guys, I've never said that I don't want to work for my skills. The fact of the matter is that the skills are not going up proportionately. We were told it would take one day to GM combats, and that is not the case. Also, I think that healing and magery should be considered combat skills, and I think the general consensus is that it should take 3-4 days to macro them up to GM, and again, that is not the case (atleast for healing it isn't. I haven't macroed magery for a long enough sample says to get an idea how that skill rate is). All I am asking for is to change the gain so that it is what was advertised.
#60

I think you misunderstood us, or we simply didn't clarify. When we said combats would be done in a day, we meant that each combat skill would take 1 day to GM. And that's how it is right now.
About healing and magery, well, I will wait a while and see what people think of it. You need to give it some more time...
