Blue Pets?
#1

For merchant players or at least characters who focus on NON combat skills it is annoying to have a Pack Horse or Pack Llama with you and some random person come and slaughter it because you did not kill a few things with it...

WTH is that? I bought the thing so its MINE. Which means that it has a owner... please think this through and at least make the Pack pets blue the second you buy them.

[SIZE="1"]When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword

I have to agree. Either make ridable horses/llamas and pack versions stronger, or make them blue by default, this is very unfair. I tried getting my pack llama to kill a bird with like 7 hp, and he couldn't even do it. I tried helping him, and he never wen't blue. Fix it

haha to make it blue it needs some karma u doubt that bird gave him enough Tongue. great suggestion let see what teh shard admisn says.

I completely understand what you guys are saying and I can relate but I cannot agree with this. It is an animal, plain and simple. If a pack horse/llama was to be made blue, why shouldn't rideable horses and llamas? For that case, how about every animal bought or tamed goes blue instantly...
See where I am going here?

As much as I think it is a good idea it just wouldn't make sense to have certain animals made blue for no reason.
The same arguement could be made about rideable horses, you buy them but if you get off of them they can be killed.
I would really hate to see a billion horses in town just because nobody could kill them.
Buying a pack horse/llama is a risk. That risk is part of what is UO. You don't need to buy it and nobody stops you from turning it blue. This is really something you need to live with. At least in my opinion.
Besides, making them instant blue would be a bit carebearish

I played in shards that work with pets being blue. I know i know this is not that shard but think of it like this:

If you own a dog ( talking about RL) and some random person comes to you ( In the middle of your town, residence) and starts slaughtering it for no apparent reason, just because its there.... You should be able to do something about it... i mean COME ON!!! My poor animal, least house pets, can not defend it self in the tinniest bit... This is a crime plain and simple...

How can you justify the murder of a tamed, harmless pet. ( Specially in town...) Make them blue in town Grey out of town???

... yeeesh If it stays as it is... ill have to say. Pack animals are completely useless and.... my RP char will kill all of them if this is not changed...( If anyone even gets one)

680gold for a pet that dies in less than 10minutes. PSH!:doubt:

Consider this then, make them stronger. My pack llama couldn't even kill a thrash (for those that don't know, one of the weakest animals in UO, weaker than a cat and dog) He got him halfway before his chance to hit went to crap. It is nearly 95% impossible to kill anything to get karma with a pack llama.

I decided to make pets karma grey since they were on Sphere. We will stick with this for a while and then see what players think of it.
You can get your pets blue though by killing monsters or red players with them.

i like this idea. when you are banking intown you aren't running a risk of getting it killed, but outside of town you should have some risk of losing it.

taran i don't think you understand what they're saying. pack llamas and horses as so weak they cant kill a little bird so they can't make their animal blue.

i think this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

Animals that are weak are fairly easy to train.
Make them attack you, and then just make a macro, that takes you in and out of war mode, then they will soon get som str and wresteling skills. Then after doing this for some time go hunting with them. It's durable.
But aye, a easy fix would be to give them a bit more skills and some 50 str or something to start with when you buy them. So they can actualy kill something and won't die on the spot.

Need pots or stangs drop me a PM, i got it all.

Here is the main point "I" am making

Mining animals (pack versions)

Are too weak to kill even the weakest animal on the shard (Thrash)

Hence, they won't be blue anytime soon.

I like the blue in town and grey out of town.
Or revised, Blue in guarded areas, grey outside of guarded areas.

Miners have a tough time as it is with all the recent adjust to the experience gain system. The economy, especially for fresh starters is hard enough. at 600 a pop, it does become traumatic to us when our animal dies. Now, in my opinion, that is a fair adjustment. Either make them strong enough to kill animals, have the ability to gain main stats (str, dex, int), or make them blue in guarded areas, and grey outside guarded areas. Also keeping the criminal and murder code intact with the animals.
