Fill me in about XUO?
#1

Im just curious. Could some of you guys fill me in about what set XUO apart from other shards? Like, in detail (not just "PvP, unique monsters, quests, events")?

I figured it would be good to understand the background of half of INX, for several reasons including better understanding other players, and better understanding the overall background that will make this shard what it is.

Thanks!

XUO had lots of great things, here are some of them...

Quote:1)maka
2) me... oh and the other staff members haha Smile
3) the playerbase
4) R/R cloth and weapon deeds, prize system, events
5) PvP
6) Xtreme monsters, xtreme armor
7) pits, and other special areas

1) maka

he is a scripting genious and made xuo possible the last few years. i would say he is one of the most knowledgable C#, C programming people out there. he also knows RUNUO like the back of his hand.

2) me... oh and the other staff members haha Smile

first of all we are as sexy as can be. we weren't just staff members, we were also players so we would see first hand any problems there were. and if players wouldn't report issues in order to exploit them, we'd find out sooner or later anyways.

3) the playerbase

we had an international playerbase. some countries i can think of on xuo:

1) canada
2) united states
3) sweden
4) spain

these were probably the 4 biggest contributors to the xuo population, not in any order. we also had players from

5) dominican republic
6) brazil
7) denmark

i dont remember what other countries, but we definitly had others.

there would be little communities of players.

the staff spoke all the 4 major languages

1) english
2) swedish
3) spanish
4) french

4) R/R cloth and weapon deeds, prize system, events

R/R = rename & recolor. once you got one of these deeds you could use them on any item of your choosing. some people would do an entire outfit with these items. i had a set of clothes with tupac quotes. you could put any name on it (no profanity ofcourse)... another example of an item i had was renamed as "tweaked".

r/r cloths would be blessed and cost you 4 TOUR tickets or 48 TEAM TOUR tickets. r/r cloth tickets fetched a large sum of money. it was hard to buy one for 500k... in fact i doubt i ever got one for that cheap. it was easier to buy tickets one by one and trade them in for a r/r cloth deed.

r/r weapons would not be blessed because someone could use it on the strongest weapon in the game and they could always carry it on them giving them an unfair advantage. r/r weapon deeds could only be won in large 1v1 regs, usually 36 people or more.

we had some tournaments of over 40 people where

1st place prize: 1 r/r wep deed
2nd place prize: 1 r/r cloth deed
3rd place prize: 1 tour ticket

other events were awarded as follows:

Quote:Tournament Prizes:

1vs1 and 2vs2 regular:
Participants >= 7:
First Place: 2 x Team Tour Ticket
Second Place: Nothing

Participants >= 14:
First Place: 3 Team Tour Tickets
Second Place: 1 Team Tour Ticket

Participants >= 20:
First Place: 4 Team Tour Tickets
Second Place: 2 Team Tour Tickets

Participants >= 25:
First Place: 1 Tour Ticket
Second Place: 4 Team Tour Tickets

Participants >= 30:
First Place: 1 Tour Ticket and 4 Team Tour Tickets
Second Place: 8 Team Tour Tickets

Participants >= 60% of server max population:
R/R Cloth Deed

Participants >= 70% of server max population:
R/R Weapon Deed

Deathmatch:
Participants <= 25:
2 Team Tour Tickets
1 Team Tour Ticket

Participants > 25:
3 x Team Tour Tickets
2 x Team Tour Tickets

don't ask me how we determined the server max population. 60% would be around 30 people and 70% would be above 35 or so.

we also had layered sash deeds that let you wear a sash on top of a doublet

Quote:Auto supply:
A limited amount of resources players can use to fight in tournaments with. If you are wearing equipment when you take the auto supply your items will be placed in a black statue in your bank, which you can access once you leave the tournament. The auto supply equipment also disappears once you leave.

Replacement:
Objective: To kill all fighters on the other team.
Prize: One team tournament ticket. If you wish to receive this prize then you must wait until one team has no fighters remaining. If you leave before the event is over then you will not receive your prize.
Description: A team event where there are normally two fights going on at a time. Each fight has either one or two fighters from each team depending on whether it is a 1v1 or 2v2 rep. When one player dies, they are replaced with another player from their team. There is no pause in between the next player being moved into the fight. This tournament is sometimes auto supplied.

Regular:
Objective: To kill all players you fight against in each round.
Prize: The prizes for regular tournaments vary depending on the number of participants. Players who place first and second get a prize. The player who places third will only get a prize if it is a large tournament. 30+ players
Description: A solo event where players must use their own equipment except during the weekly 1v1 regular on Sundays.

Deathmatch:
Objective: To be the player with the highest kill count by the end of the match.
Prize: Depends on amount of players who enters (see prize list).
Description: An auto supplied solo or team event depending on what you rather do. Teams are up to the players and not the GM. A standard DM is 20 minutes and takes place in a custom arena. If you die during this event you come back to life and can continue fighting. Throughout the arena you will find different power-ups that will increase your dexterity, intelligence, strength, and supremacy.

Capture The Flag:
Objective: To capture the opponent’s flag located in their base to gain points while protecting yours.
Prize: One team tournament ticket.
Description: CTF is a team event with two methods to score; killing a player on the other team, which will give your team 2 points, or to capture the other teams flag and return it to yours, which will give your team 15 points.

5) XUO PvP

It was pretty intense, took a while to master it, and it always stayed true to the sphere pvp. You could play for months and still not be able to catch all the different tricks people do.

One of the cool things is that we have two types of fs scrolls; xuo fs and nos fs (nos fs came from novus opiate). XUO fs takes mana and hp, NOS fs takes loads of mana and no hp.

to see more about the scrolls check out: http://www.in-x.org/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=58

the main scrolls used when pvping were;

-greater heal (should ONLY be used when you are dangerously close to death)
-2 fs scrolls; xuo fs and nos fs (nos fs came from novus opiate). xuo fs takes mana and hp, nos fs takes loads of mana and no hp.
-lightning
-magic reflect

there were two types of potions being used;

-mana. there was only one type of mana potion, that gave you (20?) mana
-greater heal potions. the reason it is greater heal and not any level of healing potion is because only greater heals were guaranteed to give you (25?) hp everytime. the other ones would give you a random amount upto the max depending on its level (lesser heal pot and heal pot)

potions could be drank every 15 seconds.

6) extreme monsters, extreme armor

extreme monsters were unique to xuo. they were stronger then your normal monster but not as strong as a paragon. they were rarer and had better loots. to make the biggest profit when hunting you would only hunt extreme monsters and one other monster; ancient wyrm.

there was also a chance that these monsters would drop a special type of armor; extreme armor. when this last version of xuo went up it started with 4 colors of extreme armor;

-green
-blue

green and blue were the most common ones. it's hard to say which was more common.

-"aqua" it was green with a mix of some other colors in it. this one was removed maybe 1 month into the opening of the last version. there were maybe 4 sets total... but it was hard to find someone with a completed set... i know me and my partner haxxed had one, and so did mito. other players had odds and ends that would probably make up one or two more sets if you could get them to sell you it.

-red became the rarest after aqua was removed.

inx will only have blue

7) pits, and other special areas

we had a special area called pits. this is where most people would go to log out, and where you'd appear when you login or where you would arrive after going throught the area to make a new character.

we also had a special area called "open duels" where you could go and duel your opponent for cash. the server takes a 10% cut for providing you with the area.

ex: you each pay 5k and the winner would walk away with 4k in winnings. the main point of this is that it served as a place to train your pvp and you could not be looted in certain areas.

there were also areas where you could duel someone for loot. who ever wins can loot as much of the other person's stuff they want with 30? seconds. we had some special supply stones here for players for a matter of convenience; arrows, bolts, reagent bag. you got to this area by going through a gate in the pits. this area was not always open.

we also had a secure vendor mall. you could not attack people here, and anyone could put a vendor here. you would buy the vendor rental contract from any banker, then come here, place him and put your stock on him. you could also dress him as you wanted and give him a name like "100 scrolls for 10k" or "full armor sets" etc...

hope that helped Smile there was loads more but i think that's enough reading for us all Smile. haha i went over the 10,000 character limit and had to edit the post.

btw, can someone maybe make this a sticky?

Thanks,
GM Pande

I think that a lot of what made XUO what it was is the history. I sadly do not have time to write about the XUO history, but I think there might be a post somewhere about it. Personally, I also liked the interaction between playersTongue In my case that meant that where ever I looked I found someone to kill or someone that really really wanted to kill meTongue Personally, I've always been on XUO for the exciting PvP, tournaments and ganks. There were always crews that were up against each other and I do like t he fact that nationalities come together and talk behind once back on a different language on how to kill youBig Grin

XUO has always been centered around PvP, that is one of the reasons that I think this merge is so great. A lot of people, no matter what shard they came from, will get to experience something new.

One things of i liked from XUO were the ganking, was really funny, Ocllo Bucca or Britain bridge were crowded. I remeber i had a house in britain bridge next to the stables and everyone wanted a key, i sold keys by 15k each and ppl bought them xd. I also liked that there were people of everywhere ganking and atacking betwen them, i remeber atacking other spanish people like spain vs spain, it was like everyone vs everyone hehe. LOL I also remember ones staff that were magical blue ones on old XUO, you was able to use them in a house to someone who was out, i remember ganking with that on old xuo in my britain bridge house hehe.

On XUO there were always people waiting in pits for someone to go out, i remember tico and we waited like 5 hours for a guy to go out from pits, he had an xtrem set, vanq ect. After 5 hours he went out to something called "Newbie Area" that was a teleport on Old XUO pits,( it was a guarded city but everyone join there to recal)We joined after that guy and we killed him with all the set after 5 hours xddd.

It was so funny, also my guild was RIP that was like a family guild we were Cheri Chipi Brutus, (they 3 are brothers)Zhondor and me, (brothers) my cousin Flyman, and also there were a guy called CaCiQue that was a irl cheri friend. So it was like a big family ^^.

Then my bro started to speak with "Tico" after some months i started to gank with him and my bro left uo so Tico was my 2vs2/gank partner, lol long time ago i know him hehe. I have been speaking with him lots of hours trust me xdd.

I think the most important on XUO is that everyone were a nice guys that just wanted to have some fun.

LE PUTEE LOCOOOO :/ hmm my mind is crazy lol

I did not read the posts carefully which are placed on here, just some points fastly.
And Pande is totally talking about RunXuo and Xuo 2 (both from Maka).
But the real history why Xuo did become legendly, was years before this.
Back in those days, there was ALOT more fun then on the last Xuo's, no hard feelings.
E.x. about the international playerbase.. On the Xuo which Jakko did create, there was the playerbase way more international. Loads of Russians, Japanase, Spanisch, Swedisch, American, Dutch + a lot more.

I think we can all agree on "back in the day was better" for any shard we originate from and then move on to new games.

sound good?

Yankovic - "... Oh Nasir, sorry, you are teh greatest. I'm a fool, you were right all the time. please forgive me. ..." (possibly out of context)

Thanks!

Now Im even more excited to see what you guys are creating!

Well that's what I do... You'll be happy when you come running for mounts :/
#12

i can buy plain horses for 602gp... much better then spending however many thousands on a colored ride. besides, me and my partner are planning on being 100% self sufficient. i know you are all going to call us crazy, but you will be very surprised of what we are capable of doing Smile
