I say, we should have ONE main taming area, for example Wind Courtyard, that is accessible by ALL. The reason for this is to promote PvP and make it a little riskier to go taming, because everyone will know the spot, everyone will want rides and everyone will bring their "guilds" to come protect them and it'll be a huge war.
Would be fun as hell, so it's a huge war, winner = gets rides

i actually agree.. on every shard i ever played (dozens), including xuo, wind was the main taming spot and it was always unguarded.. don't see a reason why it's not on here
This prevents equal opportunity. One guild can place their house right near the spawn point, such as Vikings Guild, come out and gank everyone coming to tame the animals. This also takes away exploration and rp effects. Not searching for an animal is completely lazy. It should be hard work as they are rare trophies to own. Besides, you do have a set of mounts all in one area, actually two types. You have horses and llamas in one area on our shard. But that you will have to find out from someone else or find it yourself.
This is a completely reckless idea. Only one specific group of people would technically be able to rule the mount economy. Sure you may have your wars out there over the mounts, but the one group that places a group house near the spawns, is the winner.
Try not to encourage your own idea here, this is a horrible idea.

I understand what you're saying Moustaxe, but the most prominent problem I see is that it requires players that would otherwise be only crafters to be PvPers or part of protection guilds. Not that it's hard to do any of that, but casual players that enjoy the crafting aspects of the game would be handicapped in doing so. Interesting idea, though. I remember things were like this for a little while on IN1; that is, there were some specific spawns that were heavily guarded by these super NPCs called Guardians. It was ridiculous trying to tame mounts if you were on your own or not a part of one of the bigger guilds.

i've never been on a shard where it was possible to place a house in wind courtyard.. u just assumed it would be possible? and based your judgement on a false assumption? great job mate..
besides, in the way it is right now it's easier to control the mountspawns since once u've found one u'll know where to look next time.. i haven't found one single rare mount spawn yet..
k thx

Well would it be so bad if 1 spawn were guild protected? there are plenty of other spawns for those who cant attack the wind spawnpoint. I do agree though that all spawn points shouldnt be like this.
this idea could actually be taken to the next level once we get some guild towns up gms could place a different rare spawn in each guildtown so all members of the guild would ride the same mount and it would be a great thing to go steal for another guild cause everyone would know that the oclock that vampire guy is riding actually belongs to empire...

that's exactly my point.. everyone knowing where it is vs. one guild knowing where it is.. i might've stumbled across a few rare mounts spawns without knowing it coz of the mount alrdy being tamed.. noone would be able to control wind..
