I think blacksmithing is unreasonably hard to GM... A lot of people already have the skill GM'd which doesn't make it very valuable in that sense, and the reward is only a smith's hammer.

I gained 6 points from 80.9 to 81.5 from 5k ingots making daggers... Thats approximately 1 point per 280 daggers. Assuming it gets harder and harder, I guess I'll have to make about 280*185(points left to GM)*2(since it gets a bit harder) = 103k daggers to GM, which is 309k ingots, which is more than 3 mill if I sell it. For 3 mill I can buy several exceptional adamantium and sapphire armors and a max bard and some pvp supplies. What's the meaning of GM'ing the skill if it's this hard and costs (well since I mine it doesn't cost me anything but time, but since I have the option of choosing between 309k ingots and 3 mill (because I can sell it) it does in some sense) this much?

The gain from GM'ing it seems EXTREMELY unproportional to the effort to GM it...

Suggestion: Make it easier, a lot easier.

No no no. Please do not make Crafting skills easier or it will become a damn joke. Blacksmith is good as it is, in fact it should be harder.

Dude it already is a joke. And I saw you standing right next to me in <secret> also macroing BS (I assume, or perhaps you were just crafting to sell, but selling ingots is more profitable than selling daggers/gorgets to NPC's)! You got like a gazillion ingots or something? That why you want it harder?

Harvesting enough ingots for GM'ing the skill takes AT LEAST one month if you mine A LOT, then you need like at least a week more to GM the skill...

You need around 250K ingots.

If you are going to buy them all for sure it gonna be expensive to GM!

Go Mine .

And no worries Kan, I doubt it gonna be made easier.

I'd be glad if you at least read my post before you replied. Is that too much to ask?

I read, and I repeat, Go Mine.

Lock a Char at 50 and mine.

No. I actually have been mining during the day, and blacksmithing during the night. I also buy ingots sometimes.

For how long have you been doing it and how much have you gained? Don't you think it's too slow? I don't have to GM it, I have people that can smith my ingots for free. It's just that it would be convenient to have it GM'd myself. But 3 mill worth of ingots is way too much for it.

Blacksmithing - imported_Kandorin - 02-17-2010

I dont think its too slow. I was used to IN1 skill gain which was slower than this. I get 2.0 gains per night or so. Using around 4/5k ingots. I started training BS sometime ago then I stoped it when I stoped playing UO for few months. But in a week i went from 65 to 90, mining and buying some ingots.
