So the thing is - now .sam is completely useless. Not only it doesn't help you to find people at all, because it just display the regions you can see on status page, but it also helps people who has it enabled escape from you. For example, I see someone arrived in Papua, so I go there after him. He sees the message and recalls before I even start tracking. I of course could enter some other town before recalling, so .sam wouldn't display me arriving in his region, but you don't want waste time when you hunting someone downSmile I disabled sam on blue alt and it became much easier to stalk people through website...
I suggest to make the system work like that:
1. Since we can toggle it, make it display more regions - or even exact coordinates.
2. Would be cool to have a gump instead of message, some kind of .on but with names/coordinates of ones that enabled it. So it doesn't spam when you don't want to, but if you feel like PKing you can always just type msg and see where people are.

Maybe with this system even less people than now would enable .sam, but it would actually help. Not like existing one - it just spams and nothing else..

they wont do it they say it's "too easy to find ppl"

Every time this debate gets brought up, what it boils down to is the number of people vs the size of the world. The only real ways to increase the amount of PVP is to increase the number of players or reduce the amount of space those players can occupy.

It's science.

I think everyone knows that Eru, and I'm sure everyone realize that with current amount of players there won't be much of pvp. But since you neither can increase the amount of people online, nor reduce size of the world you have to find some other ways, maybe not as "real", but still. Also I was never speaking of .sam as of solution that will always keep people pvping, I was just asking to make existing feature more useful.
And it isn't really a debate. You must have con's for a debate, and I can't see why people would be against it. Because if they don't like "GPS" system, they most likely don't use current one anyway, and most of people that using it wants it to be more effective.

Giving people's exact coordinates or even region is sort've a spoiler. It'd be a way to find every spawn I know, every mob I hunt that drops leet shit, and everywhere I mine. That would be so lame...

Like Eru said, the more active players doing shit the more likely you are to find someone Wink

Don't turn it on then, Rabbi. You know what is .sam right? If you type it you will enable this system, and people will know where you are, if you won't then your location won't be shown. If you meant that they'll find your locations through other people that tame mounts or kill same mobs as you do and have .sam enabled, well then it's a question of choice and if they want to give their spots away they can do that...
I also don't get why you care about changing it if you don't use current .sam anyway.

Touché. Tongue

I will look into this. As you say .sam is a command that you enable/disable yourself so if the majority of the players want the location to be more detailed I don't see a reason why it can't be changed.

As long as its an optional feature, I wouldn't care if it came with a map and attached a device to players that beeped as you got closer.

If it isn't being forced, it can be changed however... so long as someone wants to change it that is *pokes Taran*
