Please delete the threads in the general tab except the stickys. The majority of them are arguing threads and negative threads. The new players joining each day dont need to see this display of behavior.

New visitors to the forums are surely put off by the general discussions in this section. I would love to just wipe out every useless and pointless topic as most of it just makes the shard look bad. Ultimately though, it is up to Taran and I don't know if he would want to do that.

Instead of removing them, move them. Make a new forum section, named "Trashcan" or something simliar. This way the posts are still there if you want to look up something, quote someone or just read for fun. The rest of the forum sections would look cleaner, and I doubt any newcomers would judge anything from posts/threads in a section called "Trashcan". Opinions?

Make it, but dont let anyone creat a thread there, just move the useless ones to there lol.

I think the problem with deleting or moving all the threads with some flaming is that most of them start off with good intentions and go off topic because people don't agree on something and since nobody knows how to discuss something they resort to flaming Sad If you need any proof of what I said look at the suggestions section. How many threads here got ruined?

I think instead the forums should get an iron fisted moderator who just deletes flame posts or cuts down posts that are half flaming and half suggestions. 3 strikes and you're banned for 1 week, next offense is a 2 week ban, then 1 month, then permanent (hopefully we never get to that since banning people doesn't help us either).

Look I know you all like to act like little children on the forum at times but lets keep this serious and clean. Either discuss a viewpoint on this or do not post here.

I know some people don't care or realize that certain posts can be harmful to the shard but its becoming an issue.

It truly seems like its team A and Team B, both have their group of friends and they both try to get the other side to leave so that they can have the shard run their way. Thats the only rational thing I can come up with as nobody would be dumb enough to chase off the few remaining players for no good reason.

Anyway, as I said, this thread needs to be taken seriously as this is an issue.

I do like the idea of moving all the crap posts to a "garbage can" section.

I don't really want anyone to rule the forums with an iron fist though. I do believe in freedom of speech here but there is a line when it makes the shard, staff or players look bad and that line has been crossed too many times now. I suppose we could start censoring the forums to some degree... not with **** or @^%#& but if someone gets out of line we can rewrite their profanity to something embarrassing and change their font to pink.
someone posts something like: F you *****!!! and we could change it to:bends over and waits for the big one
Nothing like embarrassment to get a point across :p

Seriously though, I don't want to be a forum nazi but I just don't see how moving or deleting posts will change anything as they will continue to accumulate over time and the staff team shouldn't have to be paged for a cleanup on post 6 like we are janitors.

Is it really too much to ask that the bickering be taken to off topic? Is it too hard to act mature once in awhile, even if it is just an act? Seriously, a strong community builds a shard to what it is and ours couldn't be any weaker. Work together to get friends here, to suggest new ideas, to help each other out and you guys will see that it will help you all in the end as new players will actually stay and old players may come back as well.

I think trashcan section is a good idea. Flaming topics and posts that have nothing to do with original topic and just have the intent to flame should be moved there. Many other forums already do this. Everyone will retain freedom of speech as their posts won't be deleted but the general public will not have to deal with certain parties bickering at each other all day long like bitter old ladies.

Sometimes people have a valid arguement but they just represent their case so badly that in the end it ends up making no sense at all and just causing flames. It is not hard to try and get your point across without causing trouble.

Most of what is said there is true. Just apply the part about consoles to different playing styles in UO. Just follow that and you are all set.

I made a new trashcan section where flaming/offtopic/useless posts will be moved.
At the moment you cannot create new topics but you can reply to other topics. This could always change.

So if you find your post is gone, check the trashcan.

Now to just go through all the junk when I get some time. If anyone wants to help, feel free to pm me links to the posts that should be removed. Anything that may be harmful to the shard, is a flame war or has no business in the general section would apply.

If a thread started off with good intentions (ie a question or suggestion) and some people start flaming will you guys split it and only move the negative parts?

As is with some of those threads moved to the trashcan, in between the flaming there are some helpful posts (believe it or not).

I moved some posts before and checked for useful posts, but I may have missed some in between all flaming. Just make a new post in the appropriate thread if you had something on-topic you wanted to say.
