This new Swear Filter is extremely annoying. You are limiting what players can say on a server? How about you start fixing problems that actually need to be fixed.

I constantly have to retype every sentence in the game because im swearing and joking with my friends, its like i dont even want to bother to type anymore.

Because a few 12 year old kids cried about people swearing to them you limit the whole server? how about you make a filter that makes the swear words look like stars **** to the people that want the filter on. More people probably want swearing then those who do not. So make a command like .swearon or something stupid.. whatever. Smile

for **** sakes.

No, you got it wrong. They did it so that the people on this shard doesn't have to see you running around crying, swearing and acting like a bunch of 12 year old kids.

This was a problem that had to be fixed. Alot of people wants a shard where there are nice and mature people. ppl who fuvking write like this is often CRAP considered as fvckshitty immaturrr... So to at least make the shard seem more mature, to attract new players, they made this swear filter.

Swearing is the start of an uncivilized server. By getting rid of swearing we are cleaning the server up, making it a more friendly environment. There are so many people walking around just spamming useless cuss words that other people find offensive. It would be in the best interest of the shard that swearing is destroyed. Maybe now players will come to this shard and see the maturity that will cause them to stay.

PS. Im just kidding rofl

Swear Filter - imported_Yankovic - 08-18-2008

Slaethin, you are actually not kidding. There are people who take some of these jokes very seriously. What you think is a joke, can be interpreted in a whole other way by someone else.

Im pretty sure every pvp player loves to talk trash, its what we do.. If i was a pvp player and i came on this server id be gone pretty quick after finding out there is a swear filter. Luckily i have lots of items and gold and i love killing all you newbs so i cant just leave. But a new player would probably glad to leave after finding out how many tournaments and how many players are actually active not just sitting around afk macroing and jewing the vendormall

Swear Filter - imported_Lanfear - 08-18-2008

I never use so called bad language when talking to ppl but seriously isent it just fanatic christians who get offended by a simple word that some asshat have proclaimed to be bad to use?

Swear Filter - imported_Taran - 08-18-2008

I don't really like the swear filter myself. But all the constant cursing and harassing was getting ridiculous and I had to do something drastic.

However, I am probably going to fix so just the filtered words dissapear and the rest of the sentence is shown instead of everything dissapearing.

Swear Filter - imported_Sindern - 08-18-2008

Which words are filtered? I've said some pretty bad ones to test it out and it didn't filter me. Or does it only filter it to other people?

Swear Filter - imported_Taran - 08-18-2008

Nah it should filter everything out for everyone, if you know any words that aren't filtered PM them to me. You might have to put some spaces or something if it gets censored here.

Actually Splinter has a point. The way it is now can probably drive people nuts, even tho it's ment in a good way.

People tend to use swear-words in general without thinking about it, and if you write a really long sentence and "accidently" type anything that resembles a swear-word you'll just get a notice down in the corner saying "you shouldn't wear, if you swear you'll get jailed.." , and you have to type the whole sentence over again without the swearing word in it.

I agree on that ppl shouldn't "have to" hear swearing, but the way it is now is still pretty annoying.

What's wrong with the good old censur on words which are swear-words? that way ppl who doesnt like them won't have to hear them, but we won't "force" people to talk "none-swearish", and that can probably piss quite a few ppl off, not because they want to swear but because they swear without thinking about it because it's a part of who they are, and how they are used to talking/chatting.

I would also agree on a version where it ALWAYS does @%"¤! when you swear or something, that'dbe pretty nice. That's in my opinion way better than that it stops the whole sentence from coming out and instead does a notice down in the corner, because that's pretty annoying.

I'm sure most of us staffmembers doesn't think about how annoying it really is, because it is not enabled like that for staffmembers, so we don't have to get annoyed by it the way players does ;p I pretty much never use swear-words myself, so it wouldn't annoy me, but I'm sure a lot of ppl will get pissed off by the way it is now, so I vote for an .swearon / .swearoff command, or an always-on @!"¤&-thing above swear-words, but I vote no to the way it is now.

The best thing in order to get players to "start talking nicer" without being too pissed about it is in my opinion if we would add something that does @!¤"% when you swear, on the swear-word, but that doesn't stop the whole sentence. Why? - because if we do that then we'll get ppl to avoid these words because they would WANT people to hear what they are saying, but at the same time we aren't stopping their whole sentence and pissing them off the way we just pissed Splinter off. That's what I think anyways.

Regards,
Hate
