There has to be a line for behaviour that will cause the loss of further clients. If afk gathering is left unchecked then gg economy.

Easier solution would be to change the AFK gump to instead of killing someone set them stoned until they complete the test.
a. it stops them from mining as they cant move
b. there is no "res and contrinue" so the economy is saved.
c. we dont run into the "i was browsing" issue (i die alot whilst browsing or playing BF3
)
Pretty sure i should get an award for that idea....

Stoning sounds like a pretty good idea to me ;o

Is there ever a situation where AFK mining could be tolerated?
I only raise the question because it seems to be driving the staff mad...
One extreme alternative could be to allow AFK Macroing and encourage the PK's to hunt AFK miners...
Another idea would be to teleport any player that failed the AFK Gump to a room that had a random spawning moongate maybe? This would make players have to be present to walk through the gate and could be set on a 5 minute timer that moved it to another random location within the room..?

turbonegro what you did was wrong but I do apologize for reposting your guides that you deleted, it was kind of a douchy thing to do. I feel I don't have the patience anymore to deal with players that break the rules. I get so frustrated when someone that obviously did something wrong denies it.

Stoning seems to be a great idea to me. If you can be killed while stoned even better.
EDIT: The only problem is that sometimes the gump takes up to 3 hours to appear. So you could conceivably just leave your macro running for an hour knowing you won't get killed when the gump eventually pops up. Come back, unstone yourself, and leave it running an hour or so again. You can kind of do that now, but the risk is death and looting/decaying. Maybe clear the backpack of ore/ingots if stoned for longer than 15 minutes /shrug.
That was quite the mental dump of an edit.

Same thing goes for resing though, everyone has a prospectors pickaxe, the time it takes to dot he gump is the same it takes to run back in and start mining after resing at Merc camp.
