what happend with the voting for pits? - imported_Mephisto - 12-18-2007

Are the pits effecting anyones gameplay THAT much? I mean.. I know alot of reds go AFK there for a while.. but who cares? If it wasn't AFK there, it would be logged off temp at their home. Reds Have to pee IRL too sometime you know? Seriously... i'm not really here to take a standpoint from the reds point of veiw anyway.. But i am here to say that At first i was against the Pits.. But now, the more and more I see how well its been helping out newer players get between Minoc and Britian, im for it. I mean hell! I'm surprized that alot of XUO players wana keep the pits... If they wern't there, players that couldnt recall would have to use the moongates... because alot of new players can't exactly get ahold of a recall scroll right away ( i dont believe they are sold on vendors). I think its nice that they can so easily get around.

PS: I DO FEEL HOWEVER THAT KILLCOUNT TIMERS SHOULD BE PAUSED IN THE PITS, OR ANY "SAFE ZONES" FOR THAT MATTER. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE DELT WITH ASAP!

deniro you need to realize that not everything has to fit into the rp aspect of this game, as stated by the staff team.

Website Rules: http://www.in-x.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=34 Wrote:RP (Role-playing) is not enforced, although we strongly encourage it.

About IN:X: http://www.in-x.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=33 Wrote:We are not limited to one specific aspect of the game as we feel that a robust world such as ours should cater to all play styles.

in no way whatsoever is it fair to claim that inr got less out of this merge then xuo... i really dont want to go through the list again cause i've said it so many times and im convinced nobody even reads it. im assuming you're from INR and you are so used to many aspects that you overlook them.

there have been a few changes made to pits (no trading allowed & no pads outside dungeons) to satisfy the concerns of some players from inr and now that they were made is it really so bad?

this makes it almost like an honor zone between red and blues where you agree not to kill each other. if you're so desperate to have it fit into rp, make your own story for it. that is what rpers do right, play a story?

it would be nice if more people were like mephisto and saw that it brings benefits to some players (new or old), instead of just thinking it ruins rp cause reds and blues can meet. woopty doo! you can do that in occlo too if the red doesnt feel like killing you. or maybe you wouldnt be so scared if you practiced a bit of pvp. in an rp sense; you can get killed at any point, even irl.

im gonna say this again IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT USE IT.

-i dont like RP so i dont try to change it, i avoid it and leave those RPing to have their fun
-if i dont like crafting i get someone to do it for me and make money another way.
-if i dont like pvping i stay in safe places.
-if i dont like hunting then i won't hunt.

i don't see where the complication in this all is...

people are saying don't spoil it for others, but jesus is it that hard for you to adapt some? i've done it, and so have others. now it's your turn to meet us halfway.

To be honest, before I started playing here and before the merge I thought the pits was the worst idea ever. Though at that time I was given the impression that you could trade safely and bank as well. As long as those aren't an option in the pits it really doesn't matter.

However, I do not see the big deal in not having the pits. It seems people are scared to go afk elsewhere. What are you missing out on if they are gone? Free teleports to towns?

I understand that it can add a social enviroment but not having them does the same. People look for safety in numbers when there aren't secure areas and this leads to more friendships and a build on the community.

I have played on shards with and without pits. One of the shards that had pits made it so all the other towns were empty 90% of the time. These pits don't do that so it really isn't a big deal.

Though I do not understand the need to go afk there. I can't honestly say you shouldn't or can't go afk there either. Who am I to make such a statement. The fact is though, it was stated that it would be tried with and without the pits. I no longer care about this issue and I feel most people who wanted no pits have came to the same understanding. That isn't the point though, it was supposed to be for the people that said they didn't want pits and to stay true to the statement that was made. At least in my opinion.

Either way, the pits will come back because I would almost bet that more people want, or could care less, the pits back. People need to stop acting like no pits = end of the world, honestly. I am pretty sure that it was part of the agreement and it won't really effect anything, unless your a hissyfit throwing child and just want your own way.

As for the pits having anything to do with rp. They don't. The thought had crossed my mind in the past, before the merge, that it might but it doesn't. You never need to go there unless it is for an event you wish to join. In which case you can assume that the gods have opened a portal to an unreachable part of the world to make mortals compete to the death for their amusement. Or something like that.

Think I covered all the points I can think of. The pits don't hurt anything, even though they offer free teleports. I think it was promised by staff that it would be done both ways, so it should. Maybe only for a week though, as it seems a lot of people have changed their minds about pits.

Very well said Tabion, at first i objected to the pits... but i have found it really doesnt mean that much to me, the no banking no trading rules have worked fine and most towns have stayed semi populated

Eighty Swords... yes pvp was brought over from XUO and i myself have become familiar enough with it to enjoy it and atleast put up a bit of fight with my mortal :p, but thats not to say it cant in some way be tweaked. Nothing is perfect that includes the PVP.

I think people using the word "change" is being misinterpreted as if they mean replace... tweak is a better word for it. Minor tweaks arent going to make all that much of a difference... you simply have to adapt to it.

For instance if we made bardiches do less of a crit then you might have to adapt a viking sword and shield in... big deal... it replaces one for the other but also adds a little for the crafters who now have a new item to sell... shields. :p

i dont got much to say this time other then; with the way pits was originally going to be, banking was never a consideration. it wasn't enabled on xuo because the staff knew the problems this would create.

a lot of the things tabion said can be swung either way and i dont have a problem with what he said.

minax, just to let you know there's the possibility now for people to use swords and weps. on xuo it was common for people to use a guild shield and warfork actually. def bonus + decent attack. its just your style that matters.

Well said Tabion...you express yourself very lucidly and reasonably.

Daybreak Wrote:the pits are a major location to meet people, i dont think there would be much communication between the ppl if the pits are getting removed.
And it also allows everyone to easily join events, tours etc..

People would just be lost in the world and reds would stay in occlo and blues in brit and maybe from time to time u meet someone in a dungeon

Agree'd, very good point.

Let's try without for a couple of weeks, shall we? I do not know what I prefer, pits or no pits, but somehow I think everyone would manage fine without.
