I agree, RackSpace is a great host. Infact, I have been looking very seriously at getting an intership in their Network Security area. I would suggest them to anyone. Like Reckull stated, they are expensive, but you will not find better customer service.

To answer Taran's post, I am pretty sure you can upgrade your bandwidth depending on your needs. Im sure it will get expensive (especially compared to free).

Oh yeah, found an upgrade option.
Can't find any prices though, but what are we talking about? $200? $500?

Well, I am from Dominican Republic and i lag very rarely, i play really nice. But i know there are ppl like Slaquer that cant even hunt.. So i agree with almost ev1 here, like Sly said. As longs its not skills, structure or something like that its ok. Maybe a colored item or i tought it was in XUO or maybe other shard that donors had their own ridable EV, maybe thats ok.

Taran you can have an online chat with one of their sales assistance.

And you can configure the server to whatever need that suits you, in fact if you hand them your phone, they will contact you in order to summarize the real needs required in a very professional manner.

No if's, no but's Wink .... they are the real pro's in this area !!

P.S.:

Rackull
RackSpace .... I believe I own 1/2 of the rights on their name ... (kidding)

Suits me fine Cool

One of the reasons I and many others chose this shard is because it's in Europe, if you are gonna change servers, at least stay in Europe please

Who cares if it's in europe or canada/usa. Who cares where it is, all that matters is the lag is gone for many people. I get good ping where it is now, but im all for changing it because it will benefit the shard and the players.

Making everyone happy with the server is not going to happen. But, for most of us Americans the lag makes playing near impossible. I don't mind it to much personally considering most of my play time is spent hunting, but when it comes to group fighting I can't keep up.

I think something that would act as a compromise would be the best option. I'll leave it to the admin to figure that one out.

On the rewards/donating system. Some ideas would be: Custom titles (for paper dolls), statics (should be pricey), and decorative items for houses. It would be hard to give out colored clothing, and what not, considering most of those things are given out for RP reasons. But, I think the admin would be surprised what some people will pay for.

Edit: Also an idea basically stolen from another shard would be to have donator areas. Such as duengons or sections of the map where only donators can go. These sections should'nt have anything that will unbalance gameplay, but there are some good ideas that can develop from them.

Yeah pitty their entry level servers consisting of...

Dual Core AMD Opteron 1212, 1GB DDR-2 RAM, 250GB SATA hard drive, 1 TB of outgoing bandwidth and 25 GB of managed back-up per week.

are US$395 per month....

FAAARRRRRRKKKKKK

I also suffer from too much lag. It's beyond not being able to macro crafts, i can't even bare to mine in real time, or walk around the world...

Here's an idea though: if we get service from XS4ALL for free, maybe we could pay them money to get new hardware, or a better connection, or reallocate some of the bandwidth to IN:X only. The amount we pay them may be much less than what we would have to pay to switch to a completely new service provider. Seems at least worth discussing with their guys, if there's no improvements they can make for free.

Also, in my experience part of the situation must be improvable because its not always as laggy as i described, just frequently. At other times its significantly uncomfortable.

XUO has been with xs4all for awhile and havnt experiences lag... thats coz xuo has never had people from various further away countries.

we need a better server one where everyone gets more rounded pings. Of course being from aus i dont expect under 100 but its not worth playing atm having 500+ its stoopid.

please make a good discision about where the new(fu<k xs4all) server is... because be assured its gonna make or break this shard.

Why don't you all go look for some server hosts.. get some ip's we can ping instead of just saying that the server host is crap and they should move it?
