Not a bit of progress in the last 2 long ass months is equivalent to "we're not trying / don't care / shard is dead" Even I've had spare minutes from engineering, which is a HUGE time sink, as well as time spent with family... another HUGE time sink.

There has been progress done, both programming wise and in game balancing and spawning wise. Not sure where you get the "you suck and you are not even trying" from, but yeah, more work could be done. Why don't you read a programming book and help out?
You are not the only one doing engineering with a family, friends and other interests. Some of us have to pay the bills too, including things above:/
Whether the things done has been enough or not, I don't know. Time will, hopefully soon, tell.

No, I'm not saying anyone is incompetent, I'm saying that they shouldn't give up so easily. There has to be someone that has their heart in this and considering how much time/effort was put in to this it's strange they're just like "meh we need a break and that means were taking the shard down indefinitely." Hosting the shard was free.... why not leave it up until they "find someone" to fix it?
Anyway, it's good to hear that work has been put in, glad you haven't thrown in the towel

My worries are not the hosting of the shard neither the work put to it, but instead the payment that is due on VBulletin Board, if the time steps forward to the deadline of the VBulletin due date, we will have no interface to hear news of the shard or to pose questions on it and let's face it how many will donate to keep a payed Forum online without a shard ?
My thoughts on this are that it should be converted to phpBB and let it flow in time, this is if the shard is in fact to reopen in the future ...
