Chaos Sheild - imported_LudaKrishna - 01-24-2010

Ok so from what I have gathered, to equip a chaos sheild I need to have 10K fame and 10K karma and then a GM has to do something in order for me to be able to equip the chaos sheild.

In the past me and tech have houselooted and thus I have houselooted a chaos sheild.

I was hoping a gm could help me on this as I still can't equip the chaos sheild.

I have attainted 10K fame and 10K karma tonight.

Here is a ScreenShot:

You only need 10k fame to get the order/chaos shield, there is no fame requirement to equip it.
You must however be in a chaos or order guild to equip them. If you are in a neutral guild you can use the neutral shield instead.

I am currently in a chaos guild.

also the staff in game (almost all of them) instructed to get 10K fame and 10K karma...

anyways wtv, I have the requirements and I still can't equip it, it says "You are not the owner of this sheild"

Chaos Sheild - imported_Raigan - 01-24-2010

that's cuz the shield you looted is not set to your character...

not sure if it's alright to have it set to you since you looted the shield... but i guess you can ask Shade or Taran about this. either way one of those guys have to do it hehe, as counselor powers are very limited.

Meh, I am fine with you keeping it or selling it back to the player you stole it from for a profit but I really think you need to buy your own shield. They are linked to the character who buys it, as Raigan said, and honestly I see no reason for stealing a shield from someone else being a shortcut way to skip the cost of buying your own.

It has always been intended that you buy your own shield and I believe it should stay that way. So feel free to buy one for yourself. You can even sell the stolen shield back to whoever owns it for like 80% (if the player is willing) so you don't have to pay much out of your own pocket :p

but i don't understand why a guild shield is bound to ones character? it's useless to loot it then it's not an r/r reward or anything why is it bound to his character?

Chaos Sheild - imported_Taran - 01-24-2010

Because it's newbied and not meant to be lootable.

but why? some stupid people put things in there house for example rupert its how i got his gm taming crook

edit: and token also has lost a gm reward pickaxe like this too why are sheilds bonded if its just a simple item and rewards mean much more lol

Chaos Sheild - imported_Eru - 01-24-2010

I think it's bound for the same reason reward items are. It's mean to be a reward for the player that earned it through either skill-gain or hitting the 10K fame mark and paying 200K gold.

Otherwise, you could get to 10K fame, buy 10 shields, then stick them all on your vendor for 250K or so. People would pay the extra 50K to not have to worry about fame and the idea of a reward shield goes out the window.

But you can only get the sheild if you pay 250k and you can only wear it if you have 10k fame so i don't see how it should be bonded because it fills the same purpose lol, and a side note reward items are not bound because we've already had a discussion about it because i've taken rupert reward crook item and Token has lost item in the past.

It makes no sense as to why they are bound when it's just a simple item you can buy which takes no skill rather then gming a skill that takes time and that item is not bound to you

Chaos Sheild - imported_LudaKrishna - 01-24-2010

Has everyone forgotten that we can LOOT newbied items? there are ppl that put them in houses and not only that you can LOOT skill rewards items also lol tech has 2 gm taming crooks.

no item should be made non lootable so no i'm not going to sell it back cuz that's ridiculous, stop trying to get me to spend money when I already have the item. If I OWN the item then I should be able to USE it (pending the requirements for everyone)

also eru as for your situation, this is why u treat it like a reward item where you can only BUY one yourself and can't get another after that, this way people can't buy tons. With that being said reward items are newbied, however they have always been lootable. Thus I would like to be able to use the chaos sheild I looted.

Chaos Sheild - imported_Epistemology - 01-24-2010

House looting is rude.
